I tend to run D'Adario 11-54 on everything because they're cheap and I like 11's.
Though, I'm thinking of putting flats on my firebird. I let my strings get very dead, and the wound strings get this delicious plunky sound that works with what I do. Figure is worth a shot.

If it wasn't for disappointment, I wouldn't have any appointments.

I was running Stringjoy 10-50's for a while and I liked them, but then a few months ago there was a huge deal on D'Addario XL strings on their website, so I bought a 10-pack of the 10-52's, and I think I like them better? The little bit of extra heft on the low E and A really help things and the strings last just as long at 1/3 of the price.

^I’ve been meaning to check out Stringjoy’s. I’ll put them on my list. I usually order a few sets from online stores and grab something new at checkout.
The GHS Nickel Rocker’s w/uw G showed up.
I threw a set of 11-50 r+rm on a 335. I’m pretty sure I had a set of these at some point, I know for sure I had the burnished version. I was looking for flats that had a little more grip on rocking bridges and I don’t think I gave these too much thought because they’re really not flats. I ordered a set of 10’s for a Strat, need to throw those on this week and see how they perform on that bird.
They do have a light ground or “flattened” as they describe that makes them feel a hair smoother than traditional wounds. Also a slight more tension in the low strings which I like.
I should have given these a shot years ago. They’re a really nice string set. Smooth touch, great balance across the strings. I’m hearing bright, not subdued.

15 gauge flatwounds. 16's on the jaguar.

Was on a 10.5 set kick for a while, went back down to 10's and kind of miss the 10.5s so I'll probably switch back at some point.

Re: String Sets What’cha Rolling With
It's crazy, man. I have almost always played on super big strings. When I first started playing bass like 15 years ago I didn't know what I was doing, and I switched to super thick flat wounds. I always hated the finger "screech" of roundwounds when playing/recording.
Then I got a guitar a year or so later just so I could write songs. I'd always been a big surf guy so I wanted to use the Dick Dale size on the shitty Strat I had. I was such a guitar noob I didn't know any better and I don't think I even played that Strat with the default string gauge. So I basically exclusively played and started with a custom 16 gauge set for guitar.
Over time I began hyper building my own Fenders' and just always stuck with massive strings cuz I was used to them.
Then I would play friends or other musician's instruments at jam sessions or live and I'd see most ppl had 10/11 round wounds. I had spent so much time playing big strings (with fingers) on the bass or with a pick on my guitar builds that the 10/11 rounds seemed super thin to me. I seriously couldn't play guitars with thinner strings period. The thinner strings had so much give and less tension than I was used to on my own guitars... Especially for surf music. The super taut strings of 15/16 gauge made tremolo and heavy chord strumming easier given that the strings don't "push back".
So.. It's almost a curse. I can't play on anything else, and no one wants to play my stuff due to the strings lol.

GHS Boomers 11-50 on everything. I don't use standard tuning anymore, and i just got too many guitars to know what's on which one.
Though I'm considering fattening up the ones i use in my other band, where we're 2 or 3 (?) tones lower.

i love delay SO much ...that i procrastinate all the time.

On all electrics, tuned Eb standard, regardless of scale...
I used to run 13's for a bit, but the sizes have gradually come down as my hands gradually got more achy with age and work also, my last band tuned to C#, Ab, C#, F#, Bb, C# so the extra fatness was fine but now I'm back to a flat Standard I don't need the girth and heft of those.

Ernie Ball Burly Slinkies (11-52) on my JM. I’ve been tempted lately to try something with a wound G, but the Slinkies are cheap and work for me so I haven’t bothered yet.
