Firemist 65 Owners club

Post by mekhem » Fri Jun 05, 2015 3:15 pm

So the recent threads about the AV65 Firemist silver Jazzmasters started to scratch my OCD button. Only 49 produced originally as a limited run for European distributors. (alledgedly)

Who here has one? I would be curious on the details too, without getting too invasive: Location, weight, mods maybe.

It might be interesting to give some forensics on a limited model like this.

As of today - 6/5 There are none for sale on US ebay or on Reverb

Is it verified that there are only 50 of them?

I got one from Leitz Music in Florida in January.
They listed the weight as 8.05 lbs I didn't verify that.
Wonder if the serial numbers are consecutive, mine ends in 4786.
Can't think of anything to mod on it really. Might look nice with a Spitfire tort pick guard some day...

So I thought I'd save us the trouble of guessing and I emailed Fender. Looks like we are in the 1 of 150 club.

Hello Josh,
Serial V1426xxx is attached to an American Vintage Jazzmaster in Firemist Silver from 09/2014, made in the US. However, I don't show this as a limited edition instrument, I believe it's more the color that was limited. It looks like we've only run roughly 150 of the Firemist. The model itself has been running since 2012.

Emailing fender - that makes sense. :fp: I remember emailing the first eBay dealer and he swore that there were only 49 produced. Apparently the story was that European dealers wanted some PV guitars in non standard colors, 65 Jazzmaster in FMS, 65 Strat in Burgundy Mist, and the Telecaster in Fiesta red. Fender started production but the dealers backed out so fender sold what they had. Anyway - We got a cool custom color that's not CAR.

I will own one on Monday. Thanks to you guys, and Dave's guitars for having a small pile of them for sale.

The only one I saw in person was at Chicago Music Exchange back in November of 2014. I think soon after they came out. So I know they had one for awhile. Stunning color in person. It was the first Jazzmaster to catch my eye on a wall with a bunch of vintage jazzmasters.
