I don't have one, but a friend of mine does and I've played it quite a bit. I like it, but the neck's maybe a little thin for me - I could get used to it, though :D

"has anyone picked up a 65 mustang re issue yet?"

I picked one up at a store a few weeks back and played on it a little.  Felt good, sounded pretty resonant unplugged, moreso than the '76 we had in my store a number of months ago, as far as I could remember.  I think they look great, too!  Not sure if I'd go with the blue or the white w/tort guard though...

Whoops!  I'm all outta money! ::)

I know this is an old thread but I just wanted to say that I've got a '65 RI and I really like it alot, it's a light guitar and very comfortable to play. :-*

Like the dark blue with tort combo.

I'd not thought of that before.

I played a 65 Ri yesterday - i was thinking it'd be pretty much the same as the CAR competition i owned a few years back, or my buddy's yellow-white 69-ish reissue. I was wrong. the neck was a bit meatier, not quite as nice as vintage, but still pretty nice.

the dakoda red finish was nicer in person than i always see in pictures. a little more tomato-soupy than i thought it'd be. and the pickguard seems to be 4-layers (white, black, white, aged MOP), which was kinda nice.

The action was bad, and both pots felt iffy when i turned them. it was alright, sound-wise, nothing too bad or hella-good.

it stayed in tune nicely, although i only played it for about 15-20 min. and the white button F-tuners were awesome, IMHO. :D i think they were my favourite part, lol.

wanted to take it home, but the price tag was too high. the bay would have them cheaper if i wait.

anyway, thought i'd chirp up for the mustang fans.
