best gigbag for a Jazzmaster?
does anyone know of a GREAT gigbag for a jazzmaster? I've had a few decent ones... but the guitar barely fits and overtime the bag stretches and tears.

for whatever reason they stopped making these bags. I have one and they are awesome. Plus they fit my Jag (and my JM when I owned one) perfectly. they are VERY well padded and very well constructed. I really don't understand why they discontinued them. If you ever see one for sale used I highly recommend grabbing it.

Re: best gigbag for a Jazzmaster?
I was using a nice padded bass gig bag that worked well enough. It was a little sloppy, but had a pillow with a Velcro strap to hold the neck below the nut. IIRC it was originally for a Warwick bass, I'm not sure if they're available seperately. Anyway, not perfect, but big enough to not stretch and tear.
The cool thing about fretless is you can hit a note...and then renegotiate.

that's the one I use mostly - not a real gigbag, but very light to carry around and protects the guitar perfectly

I'm using Fender's Metro bag for my J Mascis. Plenty of room. They're big enough for Starcasters, too.

I'm sure some Fender dealer in '64 looked at the new Duo-Sonic II and thought, "That's not a Duo-Sonic. That's a Mustang".

I use one of theses^^^ for my VM Jaguar, fits like a glove. It's OK but I'd prefer more padding tbh, nice red velvet interior though.
EDIT: Just checked the neck lenght of the Jazzmaster. The above gigbag might be a little snug.

My Jazzmaster fits perfectly in a Fender Metro gigbag. It's got thick padding and is quite nice.

so even though the Metro says it's for Strats & Teles it works great for JMs? The Rockcase looks like it'll be too expensive to ship to the USA...

Re: best gigbag for a Jazzmaster?
For "great" I immediately think MONO:
http://monocreators.com/m80-series/
I have the M80 Dual: http://monocreators.com/dual-electric-guitar/
Jaguar in one side, Jazzmaster in the other.
Oh, and ALL of my power/signal cables fitting comfortably in the very generously sized accessories pocket on the front, along with several sets of strings, tools and picks in the smaller 'hidden' pocket up top.
It's the most solidly constructed, well thought out, and practically designed piece of guitar-related gear that I own. The only reason my Hiscox Jazzmaster flight case would see use now would be for loading it onto an aircraft or trusting it to a freight forwarding company.

That Mono case looks really nice. I currently have a SKB hard shell for my Jazzmaster (which is way cheaper than the Mono case) but I may have to switch over the Mono. Gig bags are easier to deal with.

It does. I have 2 of them, one for my Jazzmaster and another for my Jaguar.OffYourFace wrote:so even though the Metro says it's for Strats & Teles it works great for JMs? The Rockcase looks like it'll be too expensive to ship to the USA...

I've been hauling my Jazzmaster around in a Fender gigbag that came with my 2005 MIM Tele. Nice bag, but it's a snug fit. I would really love to see one of those Rockcases here.

Re: best gigbag for a Jazzmaster?
Reviving an old thread here. Always thought gig bags were lame and loved the idea of a hard case. Anyway I don't want to keep taking my tremelo in and out, so I was searching for a gig bag to fit my JM. Last place I went to was Guitar Center (I always hit up used places and mom and pops first) and of course they had a decent one that fits really well. For anyone looking, $59 I'll probably source out a used flight case for gigs and travel, but for around town... Fits really well, not too snug like most.
