There it is.  Supposedly this is from the actual patent for the offset guitar.  What do you notice about it?  What is it about this drawing that catches your eye?

And how come nobody has ever built...

The PatentMaster?

He he, I thought about building one for a while...

As far as aesthtics are concerned, I really miss the upper part of the guard.
And the headstock shape reminds me of some other make.. what is it?

It definitely would make a cool project  :?

Yeah, the strings were supposed to go between the pole pieces, like on a bass. Fender even built a few Jazzmaster Bass prototypes, that basically were Jazz basses with  Jazzmaster style PUs operating via the same principle. Klaus Blasquiz' Fender Bass book has some info including one or more pictures.

Oh my god, that's fucking it, right there!  The prototype Jazzy all the way on the left, the one with the seven pole-piece neck pickup.  Look at the trem arm.  It even has the Strat jack plate.  The PatentMaster existed!

I am REALLY curious about that vibrato tailpiece. I can't really make sense of the one in the patent drawing...what that supposed to be, an arm coming from below a plate that is somehow attached to the body? But the one in the photo appears to have just that..I wonder what's underneath the plate.

My feeling was that it was just a cover over a standard strat trem.
