They also said there are several other models being discontinued due to the rosewood/cites issue (they didn't specify Squier or Fender but I imagine both are affected) and that VIs in sunburst and white are available in "limited numbers".

If you're on the fence it seems now is the time..!
Augh! I need a white one but it's not in my budget for at least a month!
This is an excellent rectangle

Seems there are plenty of white ones on the used market if you get stuck. Black ones seem a little more scarce, although I happened upon one on Denmark Street this week. Haggled them down pretty and have them doing a free setup to get the intonation sorted before I go back to pick it up! They're going to regret their "2 year guarantee and unlimited free setups for 2 years" policy...

Picked it up this week. SO much fun! And really pretty sturdy, I'm impressed. The "none-more black" finish looks so classy. The setup is good with the bridge reversed and they sorted out the wonky pickup issue for me, too. Really pleased!

The only downside is the overspill or whatever it is that's gone from the fretboard to the binding. Anyone got any tips for sorting this? It's not the end of the world if not.

First post here because I finally managed to take a picture of my Squier.
Shimmed the neck, added one of SneakyTs pickguards, Stayrtrem bridge, 26-95 La Bellas, added Vol/Tone knobs from an old Tele, replaced the Vol/Tone pots and finally put on a compensated bone nut from AxeMasters.
I am thinking about new pickups now but I am not sure if it will be a massive improvement.
Has anyone of you replaced the pups? Any recommendation? I contacted Curtis Novak and he suggested his Goldfoils ($155 a piece).

Wasn't a great fan of white ones but you've done a great job with that. Looks awesome!

Have the new pots made a difference?

It made a difference because the old ones were not working properly. When turned all the way down, there was still signal passing through and you could not really turn the volume down. I replaced them with a CTS volume pot and a Fender no load for tone. While I was at it I also replaced the cap with an Orange Drop.

mine has gotten real limited use. the staytrem was a vast improvement, and I just went loony and ordered a mastery wiggle stick. I kind of hope this lights some sort of fire under my rear to get honking on the thing.

So, I thought they came with black originally, but I can't even edit my own post less than 5 minutes after I posted it? Cause I searched high and low for an edit or delete button, none were to be found.

I just ordered one of these. The last white one that MF had. It arrives today. I also bought a Mustang Bridge and a set of La Bella flats. I realized after I ordered the Mustang bridge that my intention was to buy one of those wide-channel bridges but I forgot. Oh well, I'll see what happens with the Mustang bridge.

I think the problem you'll have is getting the low E to intonate, especially with the labella's. I have the same thing (including the labella strings), and even with the staytrem bridge, that saddle is almost all the way back.

Aside from strings and a bridge, I just recently put on a staytrem arm and collet, and that made the trem a lot more usable. I think mine shipped with whatever arm somebody had laying around though, and not the stock one, as it was exceptionally short. I'm pretty content with it as it sits now.

Mine showed up. Plastic's still on it. I think this ugly tort has to go.

Mustang Bridge and La Bellas installed. I was able to intonate it (including low E) with the flipping the bridge around trick. Set up nicely with eyeballed low action. Plays up and down the neck very smoothly. I love flatwounds. Such an improvment.

What's everyone setting their action at?

These things, btw are MADE to go into an EHX B9/C9 pedal. Try it.

Yeah, I have the same one and I'm looking for a replacement...not the best tort on these guys. I love the Red Spitfire vintage Torts but it seems like I'd be paying $300 to get one custom made from him. I've tried a few on eBay and none look as authentic or red enough for me.
