that would make a nice shirt :D

anyway. i think the description really sums it up.

sadly most people who dislike emo-music think of neo-emo or post-emo bands like my chemical romance or fall out boy.
but these bands doesnt have anything to do with emo bands like fugazi or the old fashioned screamo/hardcore scene which has been pretty cool compared what most people now declare as emo.

i bet it's bush and these bad american influences ::)

no seriously, i think it's just because of the music industry which tries to make everything a new trend to get money.
and this is nothing new. taking a look on music history we can see that development even at the 'good old' punk-times (sex pistols) or in the 60s where thousands of beatles look-a-like bands flooded the music marked.

i think music industry kills music because art should be a non-economical thing.

Now there's a t-shirt worthy quote.

I wouldn't lump Jimmy Eat World with Fall Out Boy. They're a decent band that was rocking before most of the "trendy" bands of today were even out of junior high school. Listen to their second and third albums, Static Prevails and Clarity (especially Clarity), and you'll hear a really good band. Even better better live.
Agreed. Jimmy Eat World is O-K on my list. Most of the other stuff that's labeled emo now is essentially pop with spiky hair and band members who wear costumes.

Actually, it means anyone who prepares and sell drinks of any kind. But i guess the meaning has been augmented from it's italian origins. Also, i'm pretty sure it's "baristo" if it's a man(i only studied italian for a year...)

Just jumping in late on the emo thing (and I do like a lot of emo like SDRE, Get Up Kids, Jmmy Eat world, etc) but when I saw Brand New last fall they were all playing Jazzmasters and Tele Deluxes.  Looks like the gold top LP and the SG are being replaced as the "emo" guitars.  Guess everyone will be retiring their JCM 800's too :)

I wouldn't consider Brand New "emo" exactly but I do see where you're coming from. They listen to all the same bands that the people here listen to. Modest Mouse, Radiohead, Jesus Lizard, Dinosaur Jr., Sonic Youth, My Bloody Valentine, etc.,etc. They just get lumped into the emo categories because of their origins. Their last two cds are great. Deja Entendu is a really great cd with a lot of great guitar tones that are more Weezer than Fall Out Boy.

I do agree with the whole Vox thing though. Fuck everybody, :)
