In response to fixing that, it’s a no go. Once it loosens like that, it’s broke for good. I can dispose of it properly for you just PM me for my address and I only charge like $30 for the service.

No - loosen the strings, remove the trem unit from the body, and grab the socket set. You just need to retighten the collet from the bottom, it’s NBD

Lol, yeah after I had asked the question I looked up the design and figured it had to do with the part that screws on to allow the plastic insert to be… inserted. Appreciate the response. I did find and bought a replacement fender insert if just tightening it doesn’t work. Part# 7712942000

A left handed model would be nice. In green though.

Yeah, I needed a part number for my Marr the other month and when I was waiting the CS rep chatted about the guitar. I asked about the newer yellow one he’s been using on his YouTube videos. The CS rep told me to keep a look out on their socials because news will be coming soon. I guess this is the news. Guess it’s time to sell my white one!

Staytrem was invented explicitly for the JM Jaguar
Pretty sure Staytrem was around long before the JM Jag was even a twinkle in Fender's eye. Searching the term on this site throws up a mention of their replacement Bass VI bridge as far back as 2006, and those came some time after their tremolo arm and collet.

That video where Johnny is sitting in a room explaining how everything came to be with his sig Jaguar, I could swear to god, he says they came up with the stuff for use on his Jaguar. Obviously I could be wrong but it’s vivid in my mind. Maybe it was just the collet/arms?

Maybe Marr is suffering from Cryptomnesia

The systems may seem alike, but they are mechanically different. I've got a JM Jag and a Jazzmaster with Staytrem hardware. Not the same stuff. IMO, the Marr has better hardware.

That's interesting to know. I've seen the video of JM appraising his tweaks and thought he was taking credit for the Staytrem collet and bridge where credit isn't due. Can you describe the difference between the two systems (or should I just watch the video again)?

The trem arm is more about the internals of the collett- there's a rubber-like lining on the Marr, and nothing like that on the Staytrem.

It doesn't surprise me that the two solutions are similar- it's like convergent evolution. Like eyes, there's pretty much one good solution to the vision problem and eventually you get variations on the lens/retina structure, be you a mollusk or a mammal.

The trem on my JM Jag and the Staytrem trem I fitted to my other Jaguar look identical from the top. They both have a black (I think it's nylon) lining to the collet. I've not pulled the trem mechanism apart on my JM Jag so not sure how they compare from underneath.

One difference I noted with my two guitar- the JM Jag doesn't have to have its saddles that far back. And the JM trem feels more supple.
