I heard a story of Drozd, when he was back in his full-on drunk & drugged up state playing all of MBV's loveless on piano. THAT would be cool to hear.

that would be so epic to hear.

Actually i just remembered that when i saw them live Wayne actually played the solo on "The Observer" and that was the only guitar he played, but he played his seafoam jm for that.  Pretty Bad Ass.

From Jim Shine's JM site -
"1965-1975 Fender made “F” Tuners. Earliest F tuner equipped guitars feature Kluson tuner hole piloted necks with factory filled screw pilot holes. There are also a small number of Jazzmasters with factory equipped Grover tuners. These tuners have a square pearloid button and a hand engraved F on the rear cap of the housing. These necks usually have a veneer on the rear hiding the doweled F tuner pilot holes."

About half way down the page -
http://www.jimshine.com/jazzmaster/intr ... jazzma.htm

He mentions having seen them on Coronados, Jaguar, and a Strat.  I have seen a set on one of the Fender Acoustics that used a bolt on neck with all the tuners on one side, like most Fender necks.  The last set of tuners only I saw on eBay went for $110.  My guess would be bought the guitar that way, but you never know.

Resurrecting this thread.

Anybody know what knobs are on there? And is the pickguard white or parchment? I'm thinking of putting together a "replica."

What a delightful time capsule this thread is! 2009, wow! This was right before embryonic. What a time that was (I was just 20).

You should hit up the new rig rundown he did a couple months back. Shot in full HD so you might learn more. Also, they referenced a couple articles they did on his gear that likely have some quality photos.

Wait, you posted that! Nevermind!
If it wasn't for disappointment, I wouldn't have any appointments.

Lol yeah I was going to resurrect that thread but this one seemed way cooler lol. I just can't tell from photos if it's white or mint or parchment. I have a white one already but it's pristine shiny. Trying to decide if a prerelic'd parchment one would justify the cost.

I know, he doesn't mention what the lead circuit replacement knobs are. They don't look like regular reflector knobs!

If that's the original 67 pickguard would it have been mint?

Yesterday i ordered a creme guard for my '79 JM because of Drozd. Dreamy, and the wear on mine is quite similar.

I'm working on something that may make the hotrail thing easier, if you're interested.
