Agree with the above. If they had the correct routing, I would have at least bought a body from Stratosphere, if not the whole guitar. Love that color, even though it’s begging for a rosewood fingerboard.

I dont even need the correct routing tbh, i would prefer a swimming pool route. I can live with no route in the top part in case of the jag. A 3 way switch and any pickup i can try for that price point seems like an ideal 2nd jag for me

To be clear, I don’t need the routing to be accurate either, and I also prefer a swimming pool for flexibility and weight relief. The problem is that the pickup toggle switch on the Am Pro I JM is at the top, and you have to route it to move it to the correct place. Perhaps I’m a weirdo, but I can’t get along with pickup switching on the upper horn.
At any rate, I do think Fender needs to do more with this color

I'd just suppose they do a huge cost-saving swimming pool route. Would be best.
I'd want lipsticks and/or WRHBs in it
(No Pat, no more buying new Squiers)

Re: New Squier Drops July 2024!
i ended up modding my vm jm with an ampro type pickguard and ended up prefering that setup honestly, and i was a hater back when i first saw that design in 2017. So tbh i just want a nice copy of a guitar that i would prefer to not spend over a 1000 euros for.alexpigment wrote: ↑Tue Jul 02, 2024 7:36 amTo be clear, I don’t need the routing to be accurate either, and I also prefer a swimming pool for flexibility and weight relief. I’m surprised so many people like that brown Jag. I think it’s awful.

Those Guitars are cool. Any word if they’re dropping a Starcaster Bass?

I would hope that people are looking at the *potential* in the guitar rather than the way it currently looks. It doesn't really look like anything I'd buy, but I can imagine making a really cool looking Jag out if it for about $400 more Get rid of the dumb white plastic, put a neck with a rosewood board on it, throw a rhythm circuit plate on it (even if it's just superficial). You might be able to emulate the brown+black 70s aesthetic with a black pickguard. Maybe some gold accents here and there could work too. But yes, Squier made some pretty questionable choices in the default state.BoringPostcards wrote: ↑Tue Jul 02, 2024 1:32 pmI’m surprised so many people like that brown Jag. I think it’s awful.

Like others, I like the body finish more than the guitar as a whole. The maple isn't a good choice. Honestly, it's like someone mixed up the production sheets - the sunburst should have had the maple neck and the white guard, and the brown metallic (which I keep thinking of as really fancy chocolate mousse, it's a nice colour) should have had the similarly dark neck and the black guard.BoringPostcards wrote: ↑Tue Jul 02, 2024 1:32 pmI’m surprised so many people like that brown Jag. But I'm on record as finding a lot of Squier's design decisions to be a little off. The purple 70's Jag with no matched headstock, followed by an identical VI but WITH a matched headstock... not putting dot inlays on the Silver Sparkle Bass VI... having different scratchplate colours on the olive models...
They seem to do a lot of "fallen at the last fence" guitars.

Very interesting they left the traditional style trem and floating bridge in the Affinity Jag, as I thought they always streamlined that range to be less “problematic”.
Maybe after years of old peeps parroting how difficult Jags are, Fender might be trying to get younger people into it so they can upsell them into the more expensive lines
Or they could just have a few warehouses full of trems and mustang bridges that they need to get rid of.
Either way, I think they would be a decent mod platform for like $100-200 used no?

Love these, the IBM Telemaster in particular is great.
The Starcaster with the wrong headstock is really frustrating, but it's clearly supposed to be a cheaper way into a Tom Delonge signature.

I am all for Squier throwing new ideas at the wall and seeing what sticks. The only issue I have is such a simple thing for them to do. REFRESH THE COLORS ON THE CLASSIC VIBE JAGS AND JAZZMASTERS!!! How long have we had the same colors offered?!! Paint is cheap, it’s costs nothing to just cycle thru some new colors. I know there are limited run editions out there, but Squier has had the same finish options for like a decade.

I do think having 3 different finishes per year is a good idea. Drop the fsr stuff, just don’t have any “constant” colorsgutter rock wrote: ↑Wed Jul 03, 2024 5:46 amI am all for Squier throwing new ideas at the wall and seeing what sticks.
