JohnnyS's purchases since taking a time out...

Post by JohnnyS » Sun Feb 04, 2024 4:50 am

Obviously the big one was the Les Paul but I have had a few through the door since October.

2001 MIJ Jaguar, OTM. I've put a Mastery Bridge on, it came with a Staytrem collet & arm. I've put a DiMarzio Chopper in it for now. This is a fucking great guitar.

90's Squier Vista Musicmaster, another surprisingly amazing guitar:

2008? MIJ Baritone Special. Currently has Phat Cats in it courtesy of GaryPtaszek:

And lastly, a 1979 Guild S-60. Oil City Tele-style humbucker-sized thing in the only position. Deleted tone knob (obviously). Logo had faded completely so I got a replacement and popped that on. This is super light and fun to play, a real weapon:

Oh, I briefly had this old AVRI Strat that was beautiful but I, predictably, hated it:

Oh, and I finally got a V1 Rat (1980 I believe)

Oh (again) I had a Popa Chubby Flying V for a few weeks too. There's probably something I've forgot.

That Jag is gorgeous. Sorry. both of course. How do you like the Phat Cats in the Baritone?

They sound great. To be honest, the original Dragsters actually sounded fantastic and didn't really need swapping.

That one might have to go if I keep the LP. I've reached a bit of a peak of guitars vs available space. Something has to give.

It's really cool actually. Nice and bright but still a decent output. The height you set it at has a huge effect on the tone... Even ½ turn on the screws changes it drastically and it took me a while to dial it in to taste.

And it's my favorite colour for an Offset. Aged OTM is *chefs kiss*

Thanks! It was a winter project that happened. I wasn't that sold on it once it was finished. The paint could have been better as there was a little reaction (humidity I guess) but it played pretty good. I might put it back together and sell it. It's based on the Broadcaster Prototype III - but Tahitian Coral :D Pine body, soft V Allparts neck, Gotoh hardware etc. I did it well enough...but I was a bit underwhelmed when it was done - preferred my AO60s Tele

I love it. It might have to go on the block if the LP stays though...I need to be kinda brutal about things if I do. You're first on the list though, as promised via IG :) it doesn't have it's original pickup anymore though (some lunatic offered to buy it from me for £70!). I did put some MIJ Fender tuners on it though, they're much better than the stock ones.

Hah! Nope. The little bit of foam keeps the ringing down just fine and I can still play behind the bridge thankyouverymuchmrpat

Plus I don't look like a dork n00b with a b*zzstop :P :-*

Maybe I should climb onto the roof of my house and get you a couple more from up there?
