NGD: my 1st JM

Nothing but smiles so far, bought new from Wildwood (Bruce Beard) who was terrific in every way. Some specs:
-'62 Jazzmaster NOS
-2pc Alder body w/medium tint flat lam 5/4 qtr sawn maple neck
-60's oval C neck .800-.940
-6105 frets, 10" radius
-RSD bridge 9.5"
-'thin skin' lacquer
-8lbs 1.8 oz

How did you get a hold of an RSD bridge? Are they sold as a part yet? Of still Custom Shop only?

Thats a FCS WW10 version. WIldwood gets the RSD bridge on their Jazzmasters. I have asked Wildwood a number of times for any way to get an extra RSD bridge and... no dice sadly

I'll be getting my FCS JM 250k LTD delivered here in a couple days. it has the same RSD Bridge. Can't wait to plug it into my Marshall 100W halfstack
I also have a tube blues jr amp that I'll be tinkering with as well

That’s a pretty good first Jazzmaster. Very distinct look with the maple fretboard and sunburst finish. Congrats!

forgot to mention also that this JM is setup with Vol and Tone knobs that are oriented the way Strats and Teles are, rather than the way I've noticed on other JM models I've played. I understand the Tremolo arm is a 'push-in' that requires quite a bit of force to insert and even more to take out, I've pressed pretty hard but don't think it's in right and am nervous...will try it again this weekend. All my pots are 1MB except for the tone pot on the rhythm circuit, which is 50k, but so far I'm happy with the sounds and am not hearing much 60-cycle hum either. The maple neck was a selling point for me on this guitar and I don't recall seeing many maple neck JMs out there which is nice.

Not sure what you mean here, they should be the same for JMs as on Strats and Teles (minus the second tone knob on the former).

Yes, it needs a pretty firm push to properly seat into the collet.

Once it's in, you really don't need to take it out.

Zeus- both the American Pro II and American Vintage II JMs I played at a local dealer had the volume and tone knobs oriented so that when the knobs were on 10, the number on the dial directly facing the player was 5. I've heard and read people comment on this, but never heard an explanation why some JMs are like this while almost all other guitars are not.

My RSD bridge is aged like the rest of the hardware. I'm tempted to hand polish it so it gleams. But I also want to leave the FCS setup completely alone. Meh. I'll probably leave it alone.

Sounds like someone just jammed the knobs on the shafts - nothing specific to Jazzmasters about that.

simply gently lift the knob off the shaft, rotate it to your desired orientation, and press it back down. Voila! the knobs are whatever orrietation you want them.
