Well, since the missus went on a trip to NYC and I stayed home with the kid for 2 weeks, she agreed to bring me the JMXII. I wanted one since they were announced and this was my chance. Wife and guitar arrived today. I'm pretty impressed, it's really cool.
The good: Ready to play from factory. Great action, intonation and setup, nice nut. Impecable fretwork. Lovely LPB finish. Neck looks and feels great and the laurel fretboard looks pretty good in my book (it'll probably look better after applying guitar honey). Tuners work fine. I tuned it once and played it for hours and it stayed perfectly in tune. Easier to play than the few electric 12 strings I tried. Pots feel sturdy and responsive.
The not so good: Yup, pickups are hot (will swap them at some point). Body contours are minimal (but at this price point something has to give in I guess)
Overall, a pretty ridiculous amount of guitar for the money (got mine for 380 shipped). It's my first and probably last 12 string guitar and I'm happy to get it in the beloved JM form, my favorite color and that it's so easy to play. While I know the quality of newer squiers have improved a lot lately, I'm still wowed by the neck and the playability of this thing. Get one while you can.
