He says it's a poly finish. So no idea how it's turned out like this!

If they ever were, they absolutely weren't anymore by 1994. My CIJ JM is from that year and it's got poly.

Poly can still crack like that if it's hard enough. The guitar will have had to have been stored in a really bad environment though so there's been some severe stress to it to get to that state

These pickups, the Chardonnay of Fender Japan, have an earthy complexity to their microphonic squeal. The 30 year-old mini pots reveal the most exquisite bouquet of classic tones once you find the position where the sound turns back on.JSett wrote: ↑Sun May 21, 2023 8:49 amHe'll ask more than that. It's a unique colour, I'll give it that. But it's still a 90s MIJ Jag. Great bones, shit electronics, mediocre hardware, and not worth whatever premium they're going to attach for the colour.
Just buy a regular MIJ and a nice paint job, the idea that old MIJ Jags deserve "collector" price premiums is crazy to me.

How do they know how many of them were made? I've been following this site and these guitars for years and have never seen any record of that kind of information.
More to the point, even Fender themselves seem to be sketchy on serial number/production details so again, how does this guy know?!

At least now we know what happens when you put a peach in the freezer.

I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. Sometimes these special colour runs were for a single retailer, so you have the retailer's records to rely on instead of Fender. I wouldn't mind knowing the source of their information, though.simonhpieman wrote: ↑Sun May 21, 2023 9:16 amHow do they know how many of them were made? Previous source: the previous owner’s mate who heard it from the guy who was selling the guitar

Previous previous source : the passer-by in the street where the brother-in-law of the guy selling it lived. I also second £1995.

wow...didn't know the early BMM offsets existed! But saw the jazzmaster version of this era / color just last night.

Classic Mike & Mike asking nearly $4k for that JM, but that’s absolutely gorgeous.
