Big fan of these - even if I'd have put the comp stripe in the 'traditional' spot.

Info here.

The white comp stripe JM with matching headstock is definitely interesting. Love both the IBM JM and Jag. Note that both have the right sized headstock out of the gate. :)

Man, that tort is awful. Do like the IBM Jag though.

Pretty much the exact Jag that I want... except available here. And maybe I'd prefer something other than basswood, it dents very easily.
And it's cheaper than the Vintera!

And they get the big headstock right from the start 😂

Is it going to be a Japan-exclusive, or also available in the rest of the world?

Usually Fender's nomenclature for those are "racing stripes" like on the Kenny Wayne Shepard and John Mayer Strats, plus all the car-themed one-offs over the years with GT in the name.

Shockingly, Fender Japan may not have gotten the memo.
I'm sure some Fender dealer in '64 looked at the new Duo-Sonic II and thought, "That's not a Duo-Sonic. That's a Mustang".

This is perfect! :?

Does anyone have experience when ordering from Ikebe-Gakki or other Japanese shops to Europe? What awaits me in taxes and shipping costs?
The Japanese Price seems reasonable... and I just sold my Vintera (always would have liked IBM more than OTM... and the B&B Rosewood board is a nice extra!

Import duties over the value of the instrument, and your local VAT-percentage over the value of the instrument and the cost of shipping. I once bought a 2nd hand bass in Japan for 420€ (free shipping) and had to pay ~300€ for the privilege of having it cross the Belgian border.

Process itself is pretty hassle-free though, the Japanese are very thorough and correct in that regard.

Biggest issue will be: finding one, as IIRC there is a ban on exporting new instruments outside of Japan. So you might have to go via a broker or a 3rd party forwarding service.

The funniest alternative to this would be a 'Fender Europe' version with the same stripes, only in the Adidas three stripes style.

I’ve been watching Fender Japan, the release of that jazz blaster model was the coolest. However, can’t help but notice that their inlays have been looking stark white lately.

I can't speak to import duties, but there have been a couple of discussions on how one might go about ordering a Japan-only instrument from Ishibashi. It's as simple as emailing them through their site, and prices seem to be very competitive.

The jaguar and jazzmaster are gorgeous! Got me thinking though, why don’t fender Japan do a full blown electric xii? They can do the bridge (80s strat xii and late 90s Venus xii) so just do it! Same with the bass vi! The 2013 reissue had the correct bridge so get an updated one out!

The Jag is really beautiful. Somehow i also like the Mustang with the weird Stripes.

The Mustang looks more like a Gibson SG GT with the stripe like that. Wish they'd stick with the usual position.
