I'd solve two issues and source a vintage Duo Sonic neck but they're an even shorter scale aren't they?
The original Duo Sonic with the non offset body could be had with 22.5 or whatever, but the Duo Sonic IIs were only 24”, I believe.

It'd be like me to spend more on a neck than the guitar

Hey all - any reason a MIM Vintera '60s Mustang (C shape) neck wouldn't be a direct swap for this Player 90 of mine? Seller is afraid to confirm it as a fit, which I guess is him erring on the side caution but... they're both MIM and the same year.

That alone, wouldn't mean anything. Say, if you have a 2021 vintera jag, should it also fit a 2021 vintera Jazzmaster?

These are both same scale MIM Mustangs.

Do the Players Mustangs have the same neck as the Player Duo-Sonics? Normally, I’d be able to answer that for you because I’ve both, but they’re away for a short while. I think the Duo has a conversion neck, so that could be an issue for the Mustang’s compatibility with other Mustangs if it has that neck too. From memory, they certainly feel like the same neck, so I’d err on the side of caution.

My info could be bad too. I may be thinking of an earlier generation of the Duo or mixing myself up. I think you should be good if nut to end of neck is 17.75” as I believe that’s how long a standard short scale 22 fret neck is and I’d be surprised if the Vintera differed from that.

I'd be very surprised if it didn't screw straight on.

Any modern Mexican or USA short-scale neck should be easily interchangeable. Asian necks probable. I had very little trouble putting an American Performer neck on a Classic Vibe Mustang.

Same neck in every way, save for the headstock. My Mustang above has a Duo-Sonic neck (I don't like the larger headstock).

I just bought a white one this week, and I'm absolutely smitten.
I've been playing an olive green offset series mustang for a couple years now. Love the ergonomics, but could never bond with the slanted single sound.
The p90 mustang blew me away.
I've swapped out the pots for higher values, and I plan on changing the bridge to a 3 barrel callaham, but otherwise I think it'll stay as-is.

I almost spent much bigger bucks on an early '70s neck but I just couldn't get past the condition of the frets and I don't need another project, so a Vintera (I hate that word) '60s Mustang neck is on its way. Looks to be tinted from photos.

That's how mine started, but only the body is original by now.

But otherwise, nice and fun guitar, and you don't need to be a kid to enjoy it.
so my bandmate has been bugging me for years about putting a filtertron i have in a bullet mustang, how does it sound?

I don't know if "good" ill satisfy you as an answer, but that's the most correct one. Now, I'm quite biased about them, I'd put them in every guitar or almost.

(and, for clarity, there's no Filter'Tron: neck is a Magna'Tron (jinglier) and bridge is a Super'Tron (fatter))
