NGD JMJM / identifying unknown pickups
This JMJM just arrived from Reverb and something seems off.. it was supposed to be stock. The pickups aren’t original, I own another JMJM and can make direct comparisons, these are much thicker, have exposed windings, and flat pole pieces. The three way toggle switch isn’t L style like on my other JMJM. I was wondering if the harness was swapped from another Squier, but there’s no stickers/markings on the pickups. Possibly Harley Benton or another lower-end harness? The pickup leads are plastic coated FWIW.
Does anyone know what pickups these appear to be? Did I get a free upgrade or should I contact the guitar shop who sold it to me?

Response from seller:
“No, we weren't told that the pickups weren't original or what they might have been replaced with. We either bought it from a customer, or took it on a trade. We typically don't disassemble them unless we have
some reason.“

I can’t be sure but those pickups look like Fender V-Mod pickups …
Or maybe Fender Japanese pickups …

Jackpot. I do believe they are V-Mods based on photos. I will measure the pickup resistances to be sure. Thanks.

The easy way to tell those two apart is to plug the guitar in. If it sounds like shit, they're MIJ. If they sound decent, they're V-Mods.
I've only owned one guitar with those MIJ pickups, and they were the most awful stock pickups I've ever had in a guitar. Bright, scratchy, thin. Brutal.
The artist formerly known as mbene085.

Yep- MIJ top, V-Mod bottom.
I have nothing to offer anybody, except my own confusion?

Thanks for this comparison shot. These have more of that rounded/convex bulge profile as seen in the bottom shot.
