I saw a Danocaster Jag a few years ago that was right around 7 pounds, maybe a bit under. Paying for a Guitar Mill lightweight ash body could get in that range or going with poplar - say 3.8 pounds for the body, the vibrato is probably three quarters of a pound on its own, 2 pounds for a neck.
I don’t think a 3.8lb body will get you a 7lb Jag. Jags weight comes mostly from the extra metal hardware and the reduced routing compared to a JM.
For instance, my JM is just a touch over 7lbs. The body from guitar mill for it was 3lbs and 1 oz.

Bizarre, are they going to rework the whole line or is this a one-off I wonder?

Read back a few pages, consensus is that Fender were probably using up the AO neck blanks, and also maybe heard the outrage that those puny headstocks ruined any chance of extra sustain.
I have nothing to offer anybody, except my own confusion?

Must have missed it in the shuffle, thanks for the clarification.

Beautiful, although it bugs me that they haven’t masked off the headstock to match the curvature of the fretboard.
Can see a little wedge of rosewood showing through the red on the close-up shot.

OOOF! That would kill me; I'd sent it back for that shit. It seems they forgot how to do it! It's not a freakin straight line.

Pretty sure that's just a shadow from where the lighting is. Don't see it zooming in on the original pic from the other angle.

I saw someone on Facebook moaning that they asked Fender about it and the rep denied there'd be any change at all (which there has been).
Turns out he was trying to get a free replacement neck and then went on a massive rant at them, which I'm sure will go down well considering how he worded his reply...
I'm gonna guess this guy spends a lot of time on r/offset

Imagine screenshotting that reply as if you’re proud of it.
What a dickhead.
Although I am interested in the article he was given about the headstock sizes/years.
Here it is. absolute proof in case anyone needed it. Irrefutable evidence of small headstock until 1967

I commented saying he was being ridiculous with that level of anger and it turns out he hasn't even bought one
apparently he's "speaking out for people who've been screwed and lied to by Fender"
What a bellend

I do see it in the wide shot, and I don't think that's a shadow because according to the string tree and tuners the shadow the light is coming from the right of frame. So what would that shadow be? If the light were coming from the bridge it could perhaps be the shadow of the nut, but I don't see any other shadows in that direction. I think it's a fuck up.

He also seems to be adverse to capital letters and grammar.
He's also blocked me, which is hilarious.
