There's going to be an American Vintage 2 series apparently.

Yikes, that works out to $3400 CAD.

Looks like these are going to be over $3000 CAD. (My guess is going to be $3199). YIKES. The AO line started out around $2300 CAD in 2018 and steadily increased until their final price point was $2799-$2899 CAD. So this series (if you look at it from the continuity of the AVRI/AV/AO/AVii lines) will have jumped almost $1000 in 4 years.

I recently bought a used CS 61 Strat for $3500 CAD. I'm not seeing anything in this lineup that would make me want to drop that kind of cash.
Yeah, the $3-$3.5k price point is just a straight-up nope for me. I bought three vintage Fenders in the last 5 years that were all cheaper than that. I bought an AV65 used for less than half the price these things will cost after tax.

I'm sure they'll be great guitars, but these prices have just accelerated so far beyond general inflation that I cannot fathom paying them. Like you said, you can find used Custom Shop models at that price point, though I'm sure they'll just jack new CS ones up by $2k and hope the used market follows suit.

The price increases have been beyond stupid. I bought a Fender Tre-Verb pedal for $269 CAD new in March 2020. Current retail is $379 CAD. That's an increase of 41% in two years.

Found some nice photos of the Dakota Red Jazzmaster by typing in some similar serial numbers to the few leaked American Vintage II models out there, on the Fender Serial Number look up site. Unfortunately didn't stumble on any of the LPB ones. Interestingly, by changing the numbers up or down one or two some American Originals turned up as well. Including the AO Daphne Blue Jaguar. Not sure what, if anything, that means. Unfortunately I was doing this in a pretty random way, so wouldn't be able to find particular ones again.

Cost is an issue, but I've got a strong feeling that at some point or another I'm going to own this one. The 65 instead of 66 headstock shape not a deal breaker for me.

Ouch - That looks good....

Inflation prices aside - I dont think 2200-2400 is an unreasonable price point. I dont think its great but its cheaper than I expected it to be - which was in the 2400-2700 range

As someone clearly naive to the whole discussion about vintage-correct specs: What’s wrong with the headstock? It looks lovely <ducks for cover>

Actually while I’m on the subject, what makes the block inlays correct on this vs other guitars with ‘incorrect’ blocks?

Looking forward to the LPB pictures when they surface.

I have seen almost all of the new line now, but this is the most important. Serials V2204600 and up is where you need to be looking

LPB is the only colour that looks good with blocks, IMO.

They’re like $100 more than the AV65 was I’m having a hard time understanding all the talk about price being crazy when, to me, it only being $100 more than a guitar that launched 10+ years ago, post-COVID, sounds beyond fair compared to everything else around us right now
