Delightful NGD Yamaha Pacafica 12
Some friends of mine were moving and somehow in the shuffle, I ended up with this absolute cutie.
I love Yamahas (past a certain price point). They are so solidly made and this is no exception. IDK if that is actually ash, but it sure looks like it. The deep grain lines even peak through what I assume is the poly finish. These photos don't do the finish justice. It's way more honey colored than this in real like and way less orange. The fit and finish is fantastic. I haven't peaked in at the electronics yet, but I anticipate a pretty standard alpha pot situation and passably decent wiring. The action is a bit high. There's some excessive neck relief that I'll try to straighten out. I really like where the saddles are living on the bridge, so I'll consider a neck shim to pitch the neck back if that doesn't do it. Speaking of the bridge, it's an awesome 12 string design. Pretty similar to fender's Strat XII approach with with half the strings top loading and the other half coming up through the body. Lastly, I posted it here because, if you'll look, it is ever so slightly offset.
I'm super pleased to check this item off my guitar bucket list. I haven't spent much time playing it yet. If you need me, I'll be playing every 12 string Replacements song I can think of.
If it wasn't for disappointment, I wouldn't have any appointments.

Nice! As a fellow Yamaha fan (any company that can make a boat motor, a piano, a motorcycle and a guitar has my vote) I have to say that's awesome. The Pacifica stuff, even the really entry level ones, are generally better than the similar year'd Squier.

Nice one ! The entry-level pacifica was the ubiquitous beginner guitar when I was in high school, the big music store in my hometown sold them packaged with Roland micro cube amps and they flew off the shelves at Christmas, many of my guitar playing friends had one at this time. I recently setup one of these for one of those friends, it holds up well and feels like quality, so I'd really like to try a more upscale one, it looks great as a XII !

Definitely a gem for sure - that finish really makes yours a standout though!
I've looted 3 of these in my XII questing, and they've all been good experiences... get them cheap, set them up so they play like a million bux, they're great! A LOT of bang-for-buck on these.

That looks like the same Gotoh bridge that is on Fender and Danelectro XIIs (the giveaway would be the strangely aligned string-through holes on the back).
This looks awesome. At pretty much all price points, Yamahas way exceed the price point. The basses in particular leave other makers sub-$1000 in the dust.
