Re: NGD - A Total Dream Guitar of Mine
So glad you're pleased with it man! I was really digging it for the brief time i had it together before shipping out, great guitar!!
I noticed the block spacing when I was working with it, but honestly its the type of thing only uber-nerds like us will ever notice or care about. I wouldnt write the neck off just because of that, especially when its so great otherwise

Feel like if it was just to widen that one on the first fret it wouldn’t be too rough of a job. Anybody feel comfortable providing an estimate/guess on how much something like that might cost? Probably a question for the mods forum but this specific guitar is in here so

Re: NGD - A Total Dream Guitar of Mine
That's a great looking guitar, and I know it's been a long time coming as you've been asking me about my green B&B Jaguar for a while.
Re: the first block... and block work in general, I think it might be a challenge to find someone willing to work on it. I hope I am wrong. I get the feeling that working on block inlays is pretty low on the list of luthier's enjoyable tasks.
If it's really going to bug you, I think you should just fork out the cash for a Musikraft neck. You can hope you get lucky with a good Chinese B&B neck, but that is always such a crapshot. This is supposed to be a DREAM GUITAR right? I know I've talked about this before: if it's the guitar that you're going to play for years and years and love it will be totally worth it. I've had my dream guitar since 2008. I've certainly spent $ on other projects since then, but when you have a #1 guitar that you really love it can really help with the endless chasing/wondering/flipping. If you really can't live with the current neck, I wholeheartedly agree with Jaguar018. My Musikraft neck is a dream neck for me, beating out all of my other Jazzmaster necks. Some day, I'll probaly get a boatneck, roasted maple neck (with maple fretboard) from Musikraft. Lots of options for you to choose from, too. In the grand scheme of things, investing in a well-made, designed by you, neck is worth it.Jaguar018 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 14, 2022 5:30 amThat's a great looking guitar, and I know it's been a long time coming as you've been asking me about my green B&B Jaguar for a while.

I hate it when I notice something like that, because once I’ve noticed it, it bugs my OCD until I correct it

Re: NGD - A Total Dream Guitar of Mine
Yeah, it caused me to return a TVL Jazzmaster that might have been my favorite player out of all the Jazzmasters I’ve had. It weighed just over 5 pounds somehow and was perfect otherwise but the goofy block thing was stuck behind a wall of LESS THAN in my head it wouldn’t ever overcome. I’m more annoyed at myself for letting it bother me that much than I am about the block shape at this point so don’t really feel like making that mistake again.
I’ve been reading and allegedly it’s easy to change your inlays, material wise, but I’ve yet to find anything about changing the shape. I figured shit, most of the works done it would just need to be extended a bit, but it’s also the type of thing my luthier would straight up refuse to mess with probably haha

Re: NGD - A Total Dream Guitar of Mine
My crude understanding is that moving an inlay is bad. There'd be a little well on the side it was moved from (1st fret side) that would have to be filled with something. Maybe a tiny slice of rosewood caked with epoxy? Seems like it would look far worse. It would bug me too and I think you should just get a new neck. Then throw that neck on ebay or somewhere!
And I wouldn't feel bad about it. I've been waiting almost five years now for a super custom jag. First neck got destroyed by a hapless refin dude who SUCKED so hard. I lost about $1800 AND 18 months all said and done, and the guitar was no closer to being done than when I first conceived of it. Then I found a guy in PA who had the unique background that made him just about the only person on the planet who could make this neck. He's had it for about 2.5 years now, but he says it's just about ready to ship. It looks... INSANE! Think Cenobites. Whew! Rant off.

So is that actually a genuine one? Or do the blocks being off indicate that it's not a real one?johnnysomersett wrote: ↑Fri Sep 16, 2022 6:44 amJust spotted this on FB marketplace. Seem's this came from the same factory as yours...

It's not a genuine one, it's from some UK aftermarket company called 'Guitar Anatomy'. Not sure if they're imported or not (probably are).dave19er wrote: ↑Thu Sep 22, 2022 4:22 pmSo is that actually a genuine one? Ah. Okay. Thank you! That’s really good to know. Getting one and having it be not quite correct would drive me nuts. Appreciate everyone sharing the knowledge here.
