Hey guys,
First post here. I joined up with the hope of getting some info on a recent purchase I made. I've been trading Fender (especially MIJ) guitars for a while now and I've come across a few "Order" models but nothing like this.. So I've picked up a 1994 Fujigen made Fender Jazzmaster in Black, they didn't make Black JMs in '94 so I knew this was rare but it came loaded with a tune o' matic bridge.. Now I assumed it would have just been modified but having since removed the bridge there's absolutely no tell tale signs of this being the case! Just wondering if any of you aficionados have come across anything like this or have any further info that might be of help?.. Otherwise it looks as though I've picked up a one of one!
Cheers!

Didn't they make a 1994 special Guitar Center edition in black? I remember the Jags but they had gold hardware...
Anyway it's beautiful

It's beautiful, right?! It needed some TLC but it took no time in getting it up and playing. It's certainly one of the finest I've played too, it's very responsive. There have been dealer exclusives throughout the years but this one has been individually ordered from the Fujigen factory in '94. Having since spoken with MIJ/Offset enthusiasts alike, it's looking like the TOM is stock and this JM is a one off!

Yep, have seen a couple of Fender Japan Jazzmasters factory equipped with a Tune-o-Matic over the years.

Fender Japan will do pretty much anything their customers want. I briefly owned this early 80s Telecaster, Fender Japan, special order, all factory - a copy of Jeff Beck's "Tele-Gib":
