OSG World Cup: Groups C & D
After far too long a break (work trips and being far too busy), we're now onto the next two groups!
Special thanks to s_mcsleazy who's Telemaster XII (see first page of the viewtopic.php?f=6&t=122481) would have been in this round, but they have kindly agreed to withdraw to allow a new forum member to enter. s_mcsleazy is still in the competition with their transparent Jazzmaster that made it though the qualifying round though, so keep an eye out for that when we get to Group H.
As before, there are two groups of four. You have two votes: pick your favourite in each. Top two go through to the knockout stage. Poll is open for three days, and I'll only vote to break ties. I
Without further ado, the entries in these groups:
Group C
gazer's sunburst Framus:
Representing the USA, seenoevil ii's sunburst Harmony:
johnnysomeesett's natural Danelectro:
Lost in Autumn's blue Jazzmaster XII:
***
Group D
2groggy's "Screamcaster":
snarf's red Vox:
Liquitone's blue Jaguar bass:
smjenkins' brown Bass VI:
If anyone wants to add any extra photos in the comments, please do!

Re: OSG World Cup: Groups C & D
More on my Zwölf: it began as a Pit Bull/ Fret Wire 7/8 offset kit that I picked up on facebook market place for $150:
I wasn't feeling the Elvis Costello vibe, so I gave it a paint job:
This was the first guitar I'd ever finished. Naively, I sprayed it in Sapphire Blue Sparkle, with about 40 coats of Nitrocellulose to level the glitter. this is before sanding and polishing:
I also wasn't that into the neck- I'm sure Richlite is a fine fretboard product, but it just wasn't doing it for me. I had this snake head 12-string neck kicking around that I'd originally had on a stratocaster body, before matching it to this J Mascis Jazzmaster that I wasn't in love with:
fitting it out, I used a 12-string tail piece from Faction Guitars, a 12 string Tune-o-Matic bridge from Rondo Music, with individually adjustable saddles, Lindy Fralin P90s with a -10% wind for proper chime, 1 Meg CTS Emerson Pro pots and switchcraft toggle and jack.
Finishing it off, it has Wilkinson EZ-Lok tuners and a Floyd Rose string bar to tension the strings. I've since eliminated the latter and it stays in tune better. in fact, I may go for months without playing it and it's always in relative tune when I pick it up.

Some additional picks of my Jaguar Bass. First picture is how I bought it, next pictures showing some honest wear and yellowing of the nitro finish after playing it for 7 years. I put on the chrome covers just for aesthetics but gotten so used to it I can't imagine playing without them, plus it prevents people who pick up my bass from slapping. Slapping is not allowed on this bass...

Oh, I quite like the use of a strap button as a thumbrest!Liquitone wrote: ↑Sat Jul 02, 2022 7:04 amSome additional picks of my Jaguar Bass. Thanks! I couldn't figure out a way to fit a traditional thumb-rest elegantly in the narrow space between the rhythm-circuit control plate and the string so I improvised. It's quite comfy though.Gordon wrote: ↑Sat Jul 02, 2022 10:53 pmOh, I quite like the use of a strap button as a thumbrest!Liquitone wrote: ↑Sat Jul 02, 2022 7:04 amSome additional picks of my Jaguar Bass. Congratulations to gazer and Lost In Autumn in Group C, and smjenkins and Liquitone in Group D - the basses strike back!
Commiserations to those those who didn't get through the group this time - as always, some great guitars fall early!
I'll get Groups E and F up soon, hopefully with less of a delay this time!
