With qualifying complete, and the cat contest serving as an opening ceremony, we're now ready to start the Offset Guitars World Cup! Much like the real world cup, the OSG world cup will feature a group stage and a knockout round. Unlike the real World Cup, it will be held in summer like it should be, and not hosted in a venue with a questionable (to put it mildly) human rights record.
As a reminder, the theme for this contest is 'guitars under £500'.
Anyway:
2 groups and 2 votes: vote for your favourite in each, and the group winners and runners up from each group progress to the knockout stage. Voting will be open for 3 days, and polls for groups C-H will be up in the coming week or so. In the event of any draws, I'll cast the deciding vote (but as host, I won't vote in the polls themselves).
The first two groups:
Group A
Stephen_42's natural J-bass:
ohm-men's sunburst Jazzmaster:
MayTheFuzzBeWithYou's sunburst Mosrite copy:
2groggy's hollow 5 string bass:
... An interesting group to kick things off, featuring a rematch of the qualifying round, your host, and a lovely Jazzmaster.
***
Group B
Maggieo's black Telestar:
robroe's green Bronco:
crainlarich's white Hofner:
sal paradise's red SG:
Happy voting!

PS: I've only included one photo per guitar in the main post, but I'd encourage people to post more / in the comments!
For example, here are the fancy Celtic knobs that I replaced the normal plastic controls with on the Marcus Miller J-bass:

Re: OSG World Cup: Groups A & B
Congratulations to Ohm-men, MayTheFuzzBeWithYou, Maggieo and robroe, our winners and runners up who will be progressing to the knockout round where we'll have winner of Group A v runner up of Group B, and so on.
I'll get on with the rest of the groups as soon as I get a chance - I've been at a big meeting this week, so procrastination time has been minimal!
Commiserations to 2groggy and me in Group A - tough crowd for basses, apparently! And to crainlarich (and crainlarich's cat) and sal paradise in Group B.
