Almost NGD.. Squier CV Mustang Bass

Post by Larsongs » Wed May 18, 2022 8:56 pm

I’ve been looking for a light weight Bass preferably Short Scale.. I came across the Squier CV Mustang Bass. There were a couple weighing 6 1/2 lbs! But they sold before I could finish my Order.. Anyhow I tried one that weighed 7 lbs. It was Aged Olympic White & looked quite nice… I was surprised that as light as it was it had neck dive? I played it & it wasn’t bad.. It needed work like most Squiers.. Mainly a good Setup, new Strings, Bridge & Nut work…

I thought it was somewhat similar in size to my USA Music Man Sterling Bass.. I play mainly a Fender Deluxe USA P Bass but decided to pull out the Sterling & compare it to the Mustang Bass.. As expected the USA Sterling was superior & only weighed 1 lb. more.. No neck dive..

I passed on the Squier Cv Mustang Bass. I would’ve bought it if I didn’t already have the Sterling though as it sounded, played & looked good.. Especially being a $450.00 Bass!
