I plugged it in, but the strings were rusty and out of tune. So i removed them. I put new strings on it and when they stsrt getting tighter as i wind, the strings just unwind themselves... Like I literally see keys turning back.. Don't have any experience with these tuners so not sure wtf i need to do..
Sp yeah, don't know what the pickups sound like yet.

Sorted out the tuners, turns out i needed to tighten the screws on the tulips/keystones whatever they're called.
Edit, i lowered the bridge a bit, turned the truss rod half a turn, first only a quarter, played a bit and then another quarter up, oiled/wiped off the fretboard and yeah... As good ad the old Greco SS63-70 Fedex broke.

Pickups being shrill are why I sold my Gibson firebird.
I was looking at Zhangbuckers before I decided not to chase toan. They seemed to be one of the best options for FB pickups.

They are wonderful.
Back in those days, everyone knew that if you were talking about Destiny's Child, you were talking about Beyonce, LaTavia, LeToya, and Larry.

My Firestang has Duncan Antiquity II's in it, they are not in the least bit shrill.
Silly Rabbit, don't you know scooped mids are for kids?

I narrowed it down to Zhangbuckers via research and online samples, and I believe Larry piped in to endorse them when I was looking for recommendations. In the end I just didn't like the guitar enough to go through the hassle and moved it on, but I was going the Zhangbucker route.

Nothing about a Firebird should really be shrill. They are great all around guitars, sound more like Telecasters than anything else.

I’ll second the D’Urbano Firebird pickups. I have them in two guitars, my Firebird V, and my Epiphone Riviera. While they are brighter than a standard humbucker, I would never call them shrill. They definitely don’t have the same treble content as a fender offset, or even a strat. One of my all time favorite pickups.

Lovely guitar, congrats!
Another vote for D'Urbano pickups here. I have a set consisting of a normal Firebird in the bridge and a Phoenix in the neck, and it's a truly magnificent combo.

Re: NGD: Doozy blah, blah... Re: Burny Firebird
I've been interested in some firebird pickups for a project for a while. Do the D'Urbano ones sound like classic firebird pickups? I know someone described a neck firebird pickup as "the best sounding strat neck sound they had ever heard". Are these like that?
