OSG World Cup
As March Madness seemed to go down well and summer is approaching (for those of us in the northern hemisphere), I think it's time to open things up for the next guitar based competition on here: the OSG World Cup! Unlike the real World Cup, this one won't be moved to November and played in Qatar for no good reason. And even if you're from Italy, you can still take part in this one.
This will be a themed tournament: Guitars and Basses under ~£500. (At the moment, that's just under €600 or just over $600). One of my favourite things about OSG is how there's as much love for people posting their budget Squiers as fancy custom shop builds, so I thought this would be a nice way to celebrate that.
Prices have gone a bit wild in recent years, inflation exists, and prices aren't consistent between countries, so I'll generally let people decide for themselves if they think a guitar is eligible. I used to go to a brilliant pub quiz where the limit on team sizes was "don't take the piss" and I'll be applying a similar principle here: e.g. if you bought a Gibson ES-335 for $335 back in the day, that obviously doesn't count - just ask yourself whether the guitar is worth more than ~£500 in the current market.
Anyway, the rules:
- One guitar per entrant.
- Non-offsets and basses are welcome!
- Guitar should be worth no more than about £500.
- One guitar per photo. (Others in the background are fine as long as its clear which is the entry.)
- If anyone posts >1 entry, I'll just take the first eligible one.
- First 32 entries qualify. (If you could number your entry, that would make my life easier!)
Once we reach 32 entrants, I'll randomly draw the group stage organise the polls. Like with March Madness this is just a bit of fun, so let's see some lovely guitars!

Entry number 2:
My Sire Marcus Miller V5 J-bass:
Cost less than £400 new, but it's a hell of a bass.

Re: OSG World Cup
Aaaahhh. That was a tough call between three of my guitars. But I feel this is the one most suitable for the task, and one of my favorite guitar photos on my phone!
(EDIT cause I forgot:) Entry 3
Heavily modified Vintage Modified Squier Jaguar:
bought used for 230€ - only to host the Surf90s I loved so much. Also I always wanted to know what a Lipstick behind the bridge sounded like... and this wouldn‘t have worked on a CP Jag due to the limited space...

Re: OSG World Cup
Entry 8: 1956 Harmony Monterey
Found at a Goodwill for $10.
He drinks IPAs, drives a Subaru, and claps for the knee despite living in a 96% white suburb.
He's excited to be back at the big show after not clearing the easiest Federation in the world twice.
Has enormous talent, but probably won't clear the group stage.
If it wasn't for disappointment, I wouldn't have any appointments.

Re: OSG World Cup
Hey, hey, hey I've got it World Cup Fever.
Here's my submission. This guitar was on craigslist forever. The the price kept dropping, the woodburned birds kept growing on me, and finally I could no longer resist. The neck and body are from Best Guitar Parks/Sound Guitar Works and finished on Tru Oil. Spent $250 on it as I recall. The body is swamp ash and has a nice grain to it. Also has some nice locking tuners. Sperzels I think. The woodburning was done by a person/company called Dark Artz. Supposedly it was put together for BGP to take to NAAM in 2014. Not sure if that ever actually happened.
The original pickups were Dimarzio something and had coil splitting, which sounded pretty meh, so I found some Fralin Big Singles on sale. Those cost more than the guitar, so barely squeaking under the budget limit here.
Afghan background by my badass wife.

Re: OSG World Cup
Man, shit, deciding between the Jazzmaster and Lipstick Jag for this is gonna be a real dickhead. In all honesty I can’t even confirm their eligibility because there’s for sure more than £500 in either of them, but I happened to get the base guitars for practically nothing. I think my VI would qualify but it’s definitely nowhere near as impressive /:

Entry #13: The red VM Jazzmaster.
Bought in a blow-out sale for ~300€, parts for about 100 in. Unfortunately I don't own both of them anymore but I thought some of you might like it.
