"But it's cheating" - this statement never makes sense to me. Nobody posts over on the projects/refin forum about how they're all "cheating" by taking their worn vintage guitars and making them look like new vintage guitars. Nobody posts "if you want a new looking guitar you should just go and buy a new one".
It's also a bit unfair to tell someone in their 60's (not me, just playing devil's advocate ) that they should buy a guitar and "play the shit out of it" for the next 35 years so that they can play a guitar that feels the way they like. Especially with poly guitars.
Relicing is just another finishing option.
