Wow, they are really pushing for this custom purple colour.
It's not my vibe but it looks cool with the matching headstock

The base color is off to me. I always thought that the base orange was more of a orange-yellow, like a 70s mustard or harvest gold. This looks like Capri Orange with competition stripes. That said, I actually really love the color!!!
Also, the Squier has a slab body unlike the 70's Fender, which is contoured. So it's more like a "CV Squier with an Orange finish and competition stripe" than a reproduction of the competition Fender.

I somehow think it's a crime to put comp stripes on a non-contoured body. Is it just me?

Honestly, that doesn't bother me. I'd prefer contours, but it's doesn't irk me to the extent of the too-fat competition stripes.

Haha, I agree with you. But it's more because of my personal dislike for slab bodies.

Andertons have reduced the mustangs to £320 now, as they did with the lake placid blue fsr's. People seem to have drawn the line paying £400 for a Squier Mustang it seems!

I've pulled the trigger at £320, I don't mind the inaccuracies as I loved the capri orange bullet mustang I had.

Oooh man WANT
sure hope they lower them over here too.
I got a blue one for €350 but really wanted a competition one... But it wasn't worth an extra 100 tbh

Andertons are cool but the import tax is like 20% so... nah
Even though I have almost £10 to redeem there, extra
i love delay SO much ...that i procrastinate all the time.

it’s not awful, but to my eyes it’s extremely far off in color, nevermind the wrong stripes, and I say that as an owner of a modern capri orange guitar. possible the vintage versions i’ve been obsessing over have faded a lot, but this is what i wish it looked like.
Yeah, those are different colors. '71 vs '79:

It's still cool they're doing them though.

The black pickups shown later in the thread do look great. I wonder how it'd look with pickups matching the red stripes, though.

If you order from the EU then you will not have to pay UK VAT, you'll pay VAT in your country instead.

https://help.andertons.co.uk/hc/en-gb/a ... -Customers
The price you initially see will when browsing or adding items to your basket will still be in GBP and include UK VAT (20%)

However, when you have entered your address details you will see the cart recognises this and will automatically change the price you pay to the ex VAT price. From here you can proceed as normal to payment.
It will be more expensive than the listed price on Andertons because you'll be paying VAT on shipping as well as on the price of the guitar itself, but at least you're not paying VAT twice.

That's a bit of a headache... Thanks Brexit! :fp:

Yep, when I ordered the purple Jag I had to pay around €90, for the pink VI it was a bit over €100.

I just realized that all in all it'd still be around €50 less than what they sell 'em for here... Hmmm
I'm really liking the fact that it's a real "stand out" look/color.
The blue one, though, is beautiful too.

If I hadn't already preordered the lake placid blue squier jazzmaster which is coming next month I would have probably gone for the blue fsr mustang a while ago.

But this capri orange looks the business in person. The bullet mustang I bought on a whim in the same finish pretty much became my favourite finish at the time.

Took delivery of mine yesterday, immediately replaced the pickup covers. As per the other Squiers I own, all it needed was a clean and oil of the fretboard. Looks, sounds and feels good. Can't complain at the choice we've got these days for offsets compared to years gone by.

Looking forward to receiving the lake placid blue 70's classic vibe jazzmaster in the next month!

It looks a lot better in those photos than the promo pictures - the black pickup covers make a world of difference.

I agree completely about being lucky with the choice we have available these days. I'll complain about things like the stripe width, but that's really just nitpicking. Compared to 10 or so years ago, we're absolutely spoiled for choice with offsets.
