NGD: Jazzbronita, five years in the making
Inspired by this 2011 OSG thread, I decided in 2016 that I needed a jazzbronita: viewtopic.php?t=49747.
I hit up cosmitron67 and he helped me find a pickguard. I then ordered a body from usacg and it took over a year to get to me. When it arrived, the routing for the filtertron was way too big, like 3mm of extra space around the entire thing. I knew if I built it up with a TV Jones pickup it would look weird and always bug me. I didn't know what to do, so I sat on it for a long, long time. About two and a half years ago (still pre-covid), I saw that mojo pickups had a surface mount version of their dual foil pickups that would be the perfect solution. Now we're cooking! So I ordered a dual foil and a neck from Musikraft. Six months later I had all of the parts, but I couldn't find a place that would finish it. I was hoping to make it look like this navy blue metallic render from cosmitron67's blog:

Finally I found Joe Riggio who hit the perfect shade of metallic blue. The finishing process took another 6-months but finally, this guitar is assembled and is, IMO, the business.

Wow, this is right in the ballpark of something I’ve been wanting to do. Such a cool build!

Simple. Bare. Beautiful.
Ever wonder what would happen if somebody took everything you loved about a guitar, and did the exact opposite? For me, it's this- and it's freaking glorious.

100%. i never use bridge pickups alone, don’t like telecaster esque headstocks, not crazy about hard tail bridges.SignoftheDragon wrote: ↑Sat Jan 15, 2022 9:46 amSimple. Bare. Beautiful.

Woufff!! That bridge pickup looks so much better than the original idea. Also Riggio's finishing is top notch. I'd love to try one of his guitars someday. His Instagram is filled with good stuff.
Amazing guitar and I'm happy you've finally got it all together as one.

Nice! Did you wire up the dual foil for splitting too or just keeping it nice and full? Great looking and utilitarian, love it.

Thanks for all the kind words folks. After all the shenanigans, I'm happy with how well it came out.
Nope. Just straight up volume and tone on those two pots.kamillebidan wrote: ↑Sun Jan 16, 2022 3:30 pmNice! Did you wire up the dual foil for splitting too or just keeping it nice and full? Great looking and utilitarian, love it.
