Maple BB neck on AM Jaguar?

Post by javier-san » Sun Dec 05, 2021 8:48 pm

I don't recall which american professional jaguar model had or has a BB maple neck?

Can anyone point in the direction of which one did?

I saw that listing too and couldn't recall an AMPRO Jag that had maple neck with blocks. I only remember seeing maple with dots......just like my AmPro JM.

That neck doesn't look like it's got binding. Just the blocks.

Strange. The measurements and features are identical to that of an Am Pro Jaguar neck except well, the block inlays. Maybe it's a B-stock from the factory erroneously putting blocks instead of dots? I'm not sure how that would happen but I don't know how else to explain it.

Maybe something that hasn't been released yet? The anniversary is just around the corner.

I think it was a Mod Shop option at one point, but I'm not certain. They have offered and discontinued a few other neck options over time. Maybe they found an extra one in the warehouse after it was already pulled from the website.
All pain and troubles melted away like lemon drops beyond the contrails across the sky.

I thought of mod shop too - perhaps blocks was an option at some point. Apparently you can still order what is essentially an AmPro Jaguar from the mod shop with maple neck/ dots.

Looks like that would be a very nice and unique (but pricey) neck. That aside, of the 20+ (mostly Fender) electric guitars I own, the maple neck on my AmPro Jazzmaster is my favorite. :)

Don't have anything else to add other than that Fender's incorrect block shapes are killing me. I remember always being frustrated that Warmoth's blocks weren't Fender style and now when Fender have finally decided to start making them they do ´em incorrectly most of the time. :fp:

This gives me hope! lol

When the $ is here and I cannot find one used, this is the route I will go. And more colour options, too!

Overall, the experience of doing business with PST was pretty straightforward and they communicated pretty well. It did take a little while to finally get the neck, they had a little bit of backlog and were waiting on materials. So, it was about 2.5 months of waiting. Not bad for a custom neck.

A little bit of an ordeal getting my guitar set-up with the new neck though.
I am not sure where the blame lies or if there is anyone blame at all, but the 4mm allen head on the dual action truss rod is a bit rounded out. Whoever is adjusting the truss has to be extremely careful and conscious.
Could have been the tech who rounded it out, could have been PST who put the rod at an awkward angle to access the rod or could just be a really really soft allen head (which I think is what it is).
So, I'll have to be thinking about long term solutions for dealing with this down the line. (Might just buy a 4.5mm allen and file it down until it fits or something else...I'm a machinist and I am sure I can figure something out).

Otherwise, the quality of the neck is really nice and dealing with PST was/is pretty smooth. Also, the prices are pretty affordable compared to most.
