OK Custom Shop, you've got my attention

Post by smjenkins » Thu Dec 02, 2021 11:10 pm

Just saw this "Chicago Special" on Reveb. Shell pink and BMM burst is a damn good idea. I wish this wasn't so expensive or beat to shit but the concept is really solid. And the matching headstock, :-* . Give me this as an un-relic'd Squier or Mexi JM and I'm all in.

Wow. That combination works on many levels. Going clay-dot really compliments the colour spectrum too, as well as the cream plastics. I really wish they'd remember to put the vibrato arms in for these 'glamour' shots though.

I'm in agreement though that the belt-sander treatment is, as always, horrible. All this practice and they still can't get them looking remotely authentic :fp:
Silly Rabbit, don't you know scooped mids are for kids?

I really hate relicing. That color scheme and hardware is gorgeous. I'd say leave it as new and pristine.

Great colour scheme but the relicing looks horrible. Also, why would you order such an expensive guitar then have to change out the crappy bridge? It baffles me that someone would order such a high-end JM only to have to change out the hardware.

I would buy the Squier version of that immediately. I can't wait for relicing to go out of style. Ruins it imho.

I saw that and wondered to myself... "Self... Why have you never known that you needed something like that".

relic'ing is maybe a bit too much but still.....

I feel like this should have happened a long time ago. I’m okay with aging, but 95 out of 100 times I see fake forearm or edge wear I cringe.

I’m sure it plays well and sounds good, but the look does nothing for me.

Totally agree..............

edit: makes me think of similar schemes in other colors - Sonic Blue/LPB, Surf Green/ Mystic Seafoam....etc.

A little relic action is fine, but there are way too many guitars being ruined with the heavy relic treatment.

I don't like that guitar at all. The silver glitter on shell pink reminds me of something unpleasant, but I can't quite place it. Maybe dirty worn old bathroom tile. And why is the pickguard so bright white?
All pain and troubles melted away like lemon drops beyond the contrails across the sky.

Yeah, that's an awesome design direction. Fiesta / CAR?
