Fender Elvis Costello Jazzmaster pics and review

Post by algeriet » Mon Nov 08, 2021 6:54 am

Hi everyone,

Maybe you've all already seen me post this on Facebook, but I made an in-depth review of the Fender Elvis Costello Jazzmaster as well as discuss the history of his original guitars. I figured that since this guitar is so darn hyped I might as well share my take on if they live up to the hype for anyone considering purchasing one but can't try it beforehand.

If you watched the video and dug it then here's a video I made on the Squier Vista Series Venus XII as well. I'm slowly but surely working on my next video. Subscribes and thumbs up are very encouraging.

I also sold the Elvis Costello recently and whoever bought it immediately flipped it on Reverb for a 50% upcharge lol.

Anyway, thanks for reading and hopefully watching (and enjoying) the review. Do you have one and do you agree with my sentiments?

I dig your videos, keep 'em coming! I always get quite a few chuckles out of the self-deprecating jokes in there, as well as learning some interesting back story about a guitar I might not be that aware of. I dunno if I've subscribed yet but I'll make sure I am.

Not the original commenter, but I think the Costello headstock is a bit interesting also - it recreates a VERY brief time period where Fender had switched to the new decal but hadn't yet switched to the CBS headstock. I don't know exactly but it was a very short period of time, possibly six months or so. Not a ton of them out there.

I really appreciated your review/video! Thanks for making it! I'm holding on to my EC but hopefully at some point I can get my hands on an AVRI to a/b the pickups on the EC. I am probably going to have a JM with the Pure Vintage 65's on it coming my way soon, will probably do some kind of compare and contrast on EC pickups and those at some point.

It's definitely the big-block lettering, looks way cooler than the early 60s decal (putting on flame-suit now)

Thank you so much! I am happy to sacrifice my own dignity for your amusement. I also appreciate the sub! Have a good one.

Here's a quick search for a '65/'66 with a similar logo but entirely in black. Transition stuff is imo the coolest.

Thanks for your kind feedback! Overall I think the EC's pickups as well as the Pure Vintage '65s are great and wouldn't mind either (obviously, as I've owned both lol).

That video was great. Nice work! Loved the cut-scenes and the way you mixed serious history and evaluation with playfulness.

Thank you so much! I sort of see it that the information allows me to pull off occasional goofiness!

Good thing for you is that natural finished guitars are pretty easy to accomplish DIY! 🤪

Great video! One of these popped up on my fb marketplace here in Sweden for about 3k usd, I believe it's the first one I've seen for sale here. Would love to own one some day but for now your video scratched my itch to get one.

Sorry - It was my understanding that this one had the AVRI 62 pickups in it? Did they have special pickups too?

I finally got around to watching the video and I thought it was really great. I dig the presentation style and your editing. You got me with the MGS sounds too.
