Wow!
That‘s what it should have looked like in the first place (pickguard)!
The black Mastery kit is something I haven‘t seen in the wild very often. Looking badass! The knobs complements it perfectly. Well done!

Looks ace!
How did the Plek turn out?
Also is the string tree black as well?
And lastly, where did you get the coloured Mastery hardware anyway?
You’ve really turned this one into a keeper!

My man! Thank you!
Sorry for the delay in response on this one, I was waiting to get it back from the Plek.
As with Christmas and New Years and all, schedules got pushed a bit, but I was able to pick it up yesterday.
HOLY FREAKING GOODNESS, this is good. Like light years good. On par or surpassing anything I've played from Fender CS as well as boutique "new" guitars. I feel relic'd and vintage have their own feel and need to be left out of that comparison.
Bends are effortless. Best fretjob I've ever had done, hand down. Damn well better be for the $200 it cost, LOL.

You didn't answer how you got ahold of the black Mastery kit though...

Man that looks great with the black pickguard.
Not normally a sunburst JM kind of guy, but with the B&B, black guard and WRHBs, that is just perfect.

Thank you kindly! Oddly enough I've been a burst guy for a long time. No clue why, as I also love all the finer colors... Fender official or not!

Re: New Fender Japan Traditional 60S Jazzmaster® HH LTD
Yes yes yes... I got all hyped up playing it I forgot to answer. Sorry about that!
Well, the string tree is regular aluminum as Mastery sells. I thought about having it powdercoated black but then thought... why? There's no black up on that headstock save the small print so it would feel out of place and wasn't worth the cost.
As for the black Mastery Kit, the unicorn popped up on Reverb for less than new-shipped from Mastery so I nabbed it.
If you are after a black kit, email Amanda and ask about availability as well as an email alert list for the black kits. I know as of summer 2021 they had something like that in place Also follow Mastery on IG and set alerts for their stories. They've kicked out some rarities for sale here and there... gold kits, etc. I think at this point the only color they are doing for us regular folk are the aluminum and the black.

I wanted one of these so bad I wish I’d have not slept on it because it looks seriously, seriously awesome! They even fixed the binding so you know, it actually has binding you can see!

Great tip! Maybe you saw on IG, but I've been interning for Baguley guitars and they anodize their stuff on request and the thought did cross my mind to have a Descendant or a Mastery anodized to some cool colour!smalltownsongs wrote: ↑Thu Jan 06, 2022 12:28 pmAs for the black Mastery Kit, the unicorn popped up on Reverb for less than new-shipped from Mastery so I nabbed it.

Yes, I've seen some of that good good stuff y'all have going on. It's great!
I'd thought I had an anodizer here lined up for a crazy idea I'd had, but that fell through quickly.
Anodizing isn't easy to come by!

Re: New Fender Japan Traditional 60S Jazzmaster® HH LTD
Fender Japan also released a more "traditional" traditional 60s Jazzmaster in 2021. Like with the HH variant... the Tort could be cooler - looks especially dull in the pic. Might still have a foil on - like the pickups have... But we do have another B&B neck! :-) any clue where these are produced and could we please order some necks from that very factory?
Also: why are most Fender Made in Japan releases not regularly available in Europe or the states except for ridiculous high prices?

Fender Japan guitars, with some exceptions, can only be sold and shipped within Japan. So to get them abroad you have to import them. But sometimes Fender USA sells MIJ guitars here directly. Just not most of the ones we want these days!

This gets repeated a lot but is untrue.mastermorya wrote: ↑Fri Feb 11, 2022 5:42 pmFender Japan guitars, with some exceptions, can only be sold and shipped within Japan. So to get them abroad you have to import them.
Unless you mean exceptions like 'we will allow 'Fender Japan instruments to be sold without restrictions at licensed Fender dealers alongside our USA/Mexican and Squier offerings in entire $country_or_region'.
I mean, I get linked to a list of official dealers from the Made in Japan "Heritage 60s Jazzmaster" directly from the product listing on Fender's (AU) website complete with RRP.
Given the ludicrous prices on things it'd potentially be worthwhile doing the sums around currency conversion/shipping rates and seeing if you can buy one from an Australian vendor like 'Found Sound' where they're readily available.

Re: New Fender Japan Traditional 60S Jazzmaster® HH LTD
I don’t really understand what you mean or where you are coming from—in the US at least, there are very few made in japan models that you can buy new through the retail outlets one would use to buy Fender guitars normally in the US. It appears depending on what country you select on Fender’s website there is some variety of what MIJ guitars are available, and maybe there are more expansive offerings in Australia, I have no idea. All I know is that it was not possible to go to fender.com or any US retailer to buy the guitar this thread is about. You had to arrange for import to the US, whether through ishibashi or whatever, and likely pay for customs on top of shipping, because, as I understand it, most Fender Japan guitars are intended for sale in Japan pursuant to some agreement between Fender Japan and Fender USA. Or buy one used and/or already imported to the USA, e.g., Mike and Mike’s Ridiculous Markup Bar.
