OMG! NGD: Squier Contemporary Jaguar
Well shit, Squier has done it to me once again.
This is about the 7th Squier I'm buying in the last couple years.
I saw it listed locally for under €300 and dammit folks I have guitars that cost 5x that and don't have the quality and feel and looks of this.
The roasted maple neck with the smooth satin finish feels like HOME, I tell you. The frets are jumbo, which initially scared me but they're quite low and not like the other (narrow tall) i kinda tolerate but hate (or vice versa). Frets (and everything, really) are FLAWLESS, perfect.
The splittable Humbuckers is a nice extra as it really does nice classic Jag sounds.
As you can see, I've instantly added an ancient German (Schaller?) vibrato tailpiece but geez it's heavy so I guess I'll go for a Duesenberg Les Trem again.
Of course there's the temptation to someday put WRHBs in there or something, but for now I'm pretty blown away by this killer deal.
LOVE the color. Flawless all over.
Lemme know if you have questions.
But I'd recommend this thing to anyone.

Congrats on the NGD! It looks beautiful. I love skyburst and it's even better with that Schaller trem.

That Schaller trem is great looking! Very... German.
It'd look great on some blacked-out industrial metal machine.

Congrats. They really do look great for the money. I like what Squier is doing more so than Fender these days.

Amen to this. I was in a GC yesterday for the first time in over two years and the only instruments that interested me had Squier on the headstock. For reference, it was this sonic blue JM, but in real life, it was quite blue not not super washed out like this pic:

Had to remove the vibrato tailpiece as it was just too damn heavy, dammit...
It's impressive how this guitar reacts to different amps and/or vice versa; on some you can't hear the switching differences, on others it's massive!

Re: OMG! NGD: Squier Contemporary Jaguar
They look awesome, the roasted neck especially is super tempting.
I don't need another Squier Jaguar (or another guitar at all for that matter) but they're exactly the kind of thing I'd go for if I was looking. Squier have done loads of awesome stuff recently. They've gone from good for the price to excellent full stop to the extent that I'm generally more interested in what Squier are doing than Fender these days.
Only negative for me is that I'm not enamored with either of the colours, but that's entirely subjective personal preference. The gold is a bit too flashy for me, and the blue sky burst leaves me disappointed after I fell in love with the more teal version that the original promo pictures suggested. On the flip side, I'm glad they're being adventurous with colour choices. There will be some I love that others don't, but that's more fun for everyone than playing it safe so we're all indifferent.

Re: OMG! NGD: Squier Contemporary Jaguar
Wow well now it's been almost half a year. Time flies.
I still have it but it'll be on the chopping block soon. Really don't need it, even though it's a great guitar.
I had big probs with the fat frets - if you grip your chords a bit harder when playing more aggressively, the note goes sharp. That's a no go for me.
A pity cuz it's a smoking hot guitar
