NGD: Squier CV Late 50s JM (gold guard white blonde)
Well.
They are sure making nicer guitars on the Squier line these days.
Had a BAD jones for a Mary Kaye Strat, then saw these at CME. You cannot tell to well from the online photos, but it is a translucent finish indeed. The gold on the guard is a good mellow tone, not super yellow. Has a Mustang bridge and a pop-in collet, which I prefer to the threaded one on the MIM guitars.
The pickups sound right. Clear, punchy, Jazzmaster-y. Through a Hot Cake into a tweed amp, the bridge does a reasonable early Superdrag tone (should be 2 dimed-out Distortion+s, but anyhow).
The fret board needs oiling, and either the shaft is slightly bent on my main tone pot or the knob is on wonky. I'd have preferred black witch hats to knurled chrome, but that's it for negatives at first blush.

Congrats! Beautiful transparent blonde! I do love the more mellow anodized gold guard, too. Glad to hear the stock pickups sound good! Enjoy!

Congratulations! I'd love to own this guitar, but I'd rather change the pickup covers and make them match the bar tip.

Just got same model, but mine has a few issues
The knobs are horrible and have been swapped out
The fretboard is dry and pale and needed a lot of oiling
Frets are as scratchy as anything but easy to fix on next string change
But it plays superbly
I was going to send it back for a swap because it has a nasty dark knot showing under the finish but I;lol learn to live with it

How's the neck? Glossy? Thin?

I originally ordered an olympic white classic vibe, but the shop discovered damage and I ended up with this instead. I'll probably change the pickup covers but I'm pretty into the rest of the aesthetic.

That body looks SUPER nice. Seems like a great guitar, but that finish.... wow.

These are so classy looking. I personally love the black pickup covers.
