Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar has sold a number of JMs from the MIJ Traditional line on Reverb and it seems the general neck measurements are as follows:

' ... .865" deep at the 1st fret and .920" at the 12th.'

I presume the roasted necks are about the same, give or take.
Cool, so there is a little variation. My previous quoted measurements from a seller on Reverb was Mike & MIke's Guitar Bar (https://reverb.com/item/42673663-2021-f ... -japan-mij), too.

Ordered my caliper from Stew-Mac last night. I'll follow up with my neck's measurements when I get the caliper. 8)

The quoted measurements seem off if you're saying this is a U-shape that's deeper than your AO 60's. I thought those necks were like .98" at the 12th? .92" at the 12th isn't what I'd call deep. I got a 60's Classic JM recently and the quoted specs online were off by like a full tenth of an inch from my measurements. Feel like something similar is going to happen here.

To clarify, I was referring to the 1st fret. The AO '60s JM is thicker than the Japan Trad '60s JM at the 12th for sure. Sorry about that. I'll verify all my JMs' measurements when I get my caliper.

To your other question, I may have overread the answer but this might still help: I have ordered a M2 for my 2012 Thinline Jaguar and it‘s basically the M1 + parts to fit bigger thimbles - and mine just accepted the M1 as is - the same goes for my friend’s 2006 Japanese JM...
so if you should‘t get the exact measurements for some reasons - the M2 is playing it safe...as you have both options! 😊

Awesome, thanks! I had already placed an order for the M2 and the OMV vibrato. I would have just bought the OMV kit (vibrato and M1 bridge) but it didn't offer it with the M2 and I didn't want to risk the M1 not working. Basically, the cost was $10 more than the kit getting the M2 and OMV.

Swapped out the stock Trad '60s JM pickups and put them in a Squier Classic Vibe '60s JM (3TS). I put in my set of Joe Barden Two-Tone Jazzmaster pickups (S-switch to go between humbucker and single coils). Amazing pickups I got in a trade deal with Mike (mbene085) a while back.

I'm digging the black pickups, control knobs, toggle switch, and wiggle stick tip with the mint pickguard. Reminds me of mint chocolate chip ice cream. :?

Sounds great, too! 8)

Well 10 bucks is an okay surcharge for a clearly minimized risk! It‘s already looking very good - with the Mastery hardware it will be a killer guitar!

Interesting, this one starts out thicker than the '63 but barely tapers in comparison. Those are some really useful measurements to know.

I think the black pickups look cool, but FYI Barden sells white ones if you want to change it back to a more stock appearance (minus the blades of course!).

Thanks, I tried to be as accurate as I could with it being my first time using the caliper. :derp:

I initially looked into the Barden bladed-cream covers which I would prefer but unfortunately, you can't just swap out the covers. Since these are pretty pricey pickups (my most expensive boutique pickups, as you know ;) ), I figured I should just try to make the black covers work for me for now.

Thanks! The Joe Barden Two/Tone Jazzmaster pickups are great with the option to go from humbucker mode to single-coil mode. To me, they have that authentic Fender single-coil tone (which is what I use 90% of the time with this guitar, but it's nice to have the hb option). As I previously mentioned, they are a bit more expensive as compared to other boutique Jazzmaster pickup makers like Fralin, Novak, and Lollar.

Looking at the JBEpickups website, it looks like they're playing catch up with their backlog. Purchasing on their website is currently unavailable but will open back up that capability when the backlog is satisfied and they have some inventory in stock.

Thanks for the measurements. I've kind of learned what my preferred comfort range is so measurements can tell me whether to bother checking out a certain model or not. I've never played a U-shaped neck though. How does it feel compared to a C shape? Would you say it has more shoulder?
