I had a quick look on FB marketplace and these are still reasonable for either CV or VM over here in the UK. Found a CV for 350 and a VM for 400 (with a gator hardcase). I might buy the CV just because.
Silly Rabbit, don't you know scooped mids are for kids?

a few guitar shops near me still have some CV VI's for list price rather than inflated online prices. tbh seeing what's been going on with the price of bari's and VI's has made me wanna get them while i still can. unfortunatly, i found out yesterday that i bought the last set of baritone strings in glasgow. seriously, i went around every guitar shop in glasgow and bought the last set anyone had....... i mean they didn't fit my baritone jazzmaster which pissed me off but hey.johnnysomersett wrote: ↑Mon Aug 02, 2021 8:02 pmI had a quick look on FB marketplace and these are still reasonable for either CV or VM over here in the UK. That begs the question. I used to have a VM Bass VI and never used it much although it was cool as hell. I had to sell it for dirt and nothing when I needed to fund my studies because it was such a niche thing. Can I buy a Squier today, have a cool toy for a bit and see it appreciate in value over time, or is this just a market quirk that'll fade out soon?

I think that nowadays there's actually a market of players who are actively looking for super long-scale baritones (and therefore also the VIs), but a real lack of both options (it's basically the Squier, one Gretsch, and the Eastwood ones) and a lack of stock. If you get one these days, I'd expect it to appreciate a bit over time, but only for as long as there aren't many options for people to actually get.Ceylon wrote: ↑Wed Aug 04, 2021 3:33 amThat begs the question. I preordered a Shell Pink Squier Bass VI as I thought it may be limited, but it seems they are taking orders indefinitely so I canceled my order.Ceylon wrote: ↑Wed Aug 04, 2021 3:33 amThat begs the question. Welp.
My VM just sold on Reverb for $730.
I'll buy a CV through my job on employee discount and pocket around $400.
It's like I always say...
Markets are terrible at determining value.

So what’s the differences between the VM and CV versions apart from the rosewood/ Lauren boards? I’ve recently picked up a VM and yet to really get to grips with it but sure I will

Better bridge, better looking pickguard, lower output pickups, yellower neck tint, different squier logo, thicker stock low E on the CVIheartreverb wrote: ↑Mon Aug 16, 2021 1:26 pmSo what’s the differences between the VM and CV versions apart from the rosewood/ Lauren boards? Do y'all know if the VM and CV pickguards are interchangeable?

The Staytrem website suggests the string spacing differs between the VM and CV models:
“Staytrem” wrote:55mm or 52mm E to E string spacing.
Now available with choice of string spacing.
55mm for Pawn Shop Bass VI and Squier Vintage Modified Bass VI.
52mm for Squier Classic Vibe Bass VI.

Re: Have Prices on VM Squier Bass VIs Shot Up?
The last few used VIs I've seen on Guitar Center were CVs but billed as VMs, with prices that are fair for a CV but a steal for a VM given the current bubble (there's one up as of this morning). I wonder if that's leading to disappointed buyers (or would-be flippers) who can't tell the difference from the pictures.

Re: Have Prices on VM Squier Bass VIs Shot Up?
Used some of the money from the sale of my VM to buy a used CV from my employer for what was essentially nothing and came out with a few bills in my pocket.
I prefer the white to the black, but the black does sort of pop.
Put La Bella Flatwounds on it. Got a matching leather couch strap and a competition stripe vinyl decal on the way.
