I think if they are ever going to do something like that, the time is now with the Paranormal Squier line. A paranormal Jag-Stang mashup sort of thing offers some cool possibilities. That Squier line is one of the coolest things Fender has done in a long time in my opinion.
That’s a very good point, the Paranormal series makes complete sense.

I haven’t tried it myself, but I feel like there’s at least one more really nice looking mashup of those two guitars to be drawn up. I’d start by working the Jaguar outline into the narrowness of a Mustang and blending the two from there trying different proportions.

The Jag-Stang Fender released is the actual design sent to, and played by, Kurt (bridge and pickups aside).
Or is it?...

This is the guitar that started it all for me. It is weird looking and doesn't fit on a guitar stand properly, which is why it's hard to find one without giant dents in it. I'm in to it. I always liked how the control plate and lower pickguard tapers off from the edge of the body.
If it were released as Kurt had intended, it would end up with a TOM bridge on it (which everyone of this forum hates), a locked down tremolo and sealed Gotoh tuners. I have a 2 Fiesta red ones in my possession, I've always wanted the sonic blue one. Reckon I'll sell a bunch of my Squier offsets to get it.

A factor many have not considered: What if the estate believes they own the rights to the design? Does Fender really want to go to war over who owns the Jag-Stang or just offer up something that appeases both the estate and the fans (at least to some degree) without starting another potentially no-win battle over IP?

It's being marketed as the "Cobain" Jag-Stang. That's not an insignificant detail.

Around 20 years ago when I was a teenager I had a blue Jag-stang that I bought for £250 and a red for £350. They were already used and had dings and dust and bad setups. I had them for a few years and sold them for what I bought them for. I often wish I still had them but it's also hard to find Jag-stangs in mint condition. I am happy to see this re-issue and I like how they have done the lower horn and pickguard. Needless to say I have pre-ordered one. Looking forward to it.

Ugly as always (sorry) but being "limited edition" they surely will be/become "collectable" and won't lose any of their cost.
But sad to see that now even MIMs (also the Mascis Tele I mean) can/will become part of the price hype... Oh well.
i love delay SO much ...that i procrastinate all the time.

It's still cheaper where I am to get one of the older reissues on eBay. That being said, it's good they're bringing these out for those who want them. The JS is very nostalgic for me, so I love the thing from that perspective, but they're not great guitars and mine just sits in the case most of the time.

]This is a good opportunity to get eyes back on this little pipe dream of mine. Many attempts have been made at a "jag stang ii" but I put serious design work into these proportions and would love to find someone to help me build it!

I would love one of the new jag stangs but I just want so badly for it to look like my redesign! Sorry embedding didn't work

That looks really cool! The rails are a nice touch, helps keep some Mustang vibe.

It’s a pretty thing. But at this stage is it really that different from a Mustang?
I have nothing to offer anybody, except my own confusion?

The actual current jag stang is way more mustang than it is jaguar it's just ugly! This is also more mustang than jaguar but I painstakingly worked out the proportions. I tried other versions that were more jaggy but just kept coming back to this.

The picguard may look like a mustang but the bass side is slightly displaced upwards. It's subtle but it matters! And the lower cutaway was depressed slightly to bring it closer to a jag. Again subtle but important to the overall proportions being in the sweet spot.

Has anybody seen one of the new ones in person, yet?
