Maybe I'm just nostalgic, but I miss that the new Jag-Stang reissues don't have the "Designed by Kurt Cobain" sticker on the backside. It was like an unofficial signature model.

I've had a 2003 Jag-Stang in Fiesta Red for about 15 years. Seriously underwhelming guitar that I only keep around for sentimental reasons. I understand the interest driving this recent reissue, but it's still fundamentally not a great guitar.

I think the japan sonic blue might be my favourite of them all. I had one of those cobain mustangs in sonic blue, shouldn't have let that one go.

If they've indeed used the wrong blue for this model, it's a lazy reissue. Colour shouldn't usually matter this much, but when you're asking people to pay over £1000 for something very specific it's got to be right.
Iirc the second batch of mijs from 2008 had the USA style toothpaste sonic blue.

I mean if we're being technical, I think Kurt really wanted aged daphne. His original drawing said "aqua blue green(like old mustangs). He's referring to the greening and darkening of old daphme mustangs. At least I think so *shrug*
Being even more pedantic, weren't the original Mustangs only ever referred to as red/white/blue, with Daphne blue / Dakota red etc. only ever specified on reissues?

On top of that, I think the label on Kurt's sketch is pretty ambiguous - we have no real way of knowing if he meant a very saturated Japanese sonic blue like his old Mustangs, a very pale green like yellowed old MiA Mustangs, or anything in between. In any case, I think it's cool that there's a wide spectrum of Jag-stang blues. It makes each one a little more individual. Funny that the fiesta reds (that I've seen, at least) all seem pretty uniform when the blues vary as much as they do.
Yes I'm aware of the "blue" mustangs, which were actually closer to Maui Blue(although they still greened over time). they're my absolute favorite color on a mustang. That said, I do think they started making them in Daphne in the late 60s and onward. I think the "blue" color only came out in the first couple years but I cannot say for sure.

I enjoy all these pastel blues and blue-greens so I'm good either way.

pssst...I'm about to get a stupid amount of ludicrous mods for my new one. Re-radius to 9.5, jumbo frets, amer. pro jazzmaster bridge(which fits thank god), a Fralin blues special in the neck and a super distortion S in the bridge with a custom pickguard and slight routing modification to get that "double slanted SS" look. Black switches to finish it all off. I'll post it here when it's done.

I finally watched Trogly's video on the Jag-Stang and just as I suspected, the pickups are pretty much similar in vein to the originals - 7.14K Humbucker in the bridge, 5.4K Single in the neck - so the neck is less output than the original Jag-Stangs actually (6.4K 62' Japanese Strat pickup). So in the rare chance I end up getting one of these, say I start gigging again, then it'll be getting the obligatory EMG treatment like my other one, which is getting a bit too valueable and sentimental to just be dragging it to every show without me having to carry it around the bar with me before our set.

Just a heads up if anyone wants one but is put off by the price: Fiesta Red ones are currently going for £999 on GAK. Still not cheap, but 20% less than the original rrp.

I'll get round to doing an NGD for mine sooner or later. I bought mine before this deal, but did manage to get a blue one.
