$975 for a classic vide JM (was $2K) with Mastery everything and witchhats
This is in Canada, but Reverb is telling me $750 US
I bought this same guitar like a month ago from Musician's Friend on sale for less that $400 including tax and shipping. I don't know what's happening. No one has bought these yet and people can ask whatever they want, so.
They're asking for $200K for the Don't Stop Believing Les Paul, so the world is crazy. No bids yet though it looks like, so maybe it isn't as crazy as but who knows?

Ask rarely meets reality in Canadian listings, specially outside of the vintage market. Everything's more expensive yet people don't have as much money.DrQuasar wrote: ↑Wed Jul 14, 2021 10:06 am$975 for a classic vide JM (was $2K) with Mastery everything and witchhats

If it wasn't for disappointment, I wouldn't have any appointments.

Re: do we think prices will come back down to some semblance of reality?
Thinking about this thread again as I'm getting "the itch" once more.
Reflecting on what was said about custom parts builds. I spec'd out a LPB Jazzmaster build.
Guitar Mill Body: Finished
Musikraft Neck: finished with tuners and nut
SD Antiquity II set
All Parts and etc for the rest.
$1,400 all in and with taxes.
Couple of questions/gripes:
Does Fender not do a threaded saddle AO JM/Jag bridge right now? Also, their website only shows a MIJ JM/Jag tree. Do they just not make these parts in Cali anymore? Odd.
Anyway, would this really be that much better than a Vintera in quality. Aside from picking everything out myself, the fingerboard wood, and maybe the quality of the wiring. Would it be worth the effort/ wait time to undertake this build? A subjective question I know.
At the dawn of 2022, it appears prices continue to rise. For a hot second there I thought the used market was recovering slightly, but alas no. Gibson is up 10%. I'm not sure but I think Fender crept up a few percents as well. I know I know, inflation and supply and yada yada.

Yeah unless you're a store you aren't converting USD to CAD then getting the same prices.Wucan wrote: ↑Wed Jul 14, 2021 9:31 pmAsk rarely meets reality in Canadian listings, specially outside of the vintage market. The most recent development regarding insane prices - I’ve noticed that since “Get Back” dropped, people are trying to sell those MIJ/USA Epiphone Revolution John Lennon Signature Casinos for like $7k-9k. Fuckin madness. Whenever I was first looking for one, I remember thinking the $4k one person was asking was madness, but was happy to see they were still attainable in the $2k range. But this has gone bonkers now that there’s all this fresh Beatles craze. Happy I got the bones for my pelham casino build before all this popped off. Even the Chinese made “inspired by John Lennon” series casinos are being listed (and probably sold) for $2k. Insane.

Prices continue to rise (and not just on guitar gear), we’ll never see pre-pandemic prices again.

I did see a couple of the Inspired By go for ~2k. It made me chuckle at selling mine for $700 a while ago and thinking this is too much.rbrcbr wrote: ↑Sun Jan 02, 2022 6:17 amThe most recent development regarding insane prices - I’ve noticed that since “Get Back” dropped, people are trying to sell those MIJ/USA Epiphone Revolution John Lennon Signature Casinos for like $7k-9k. Interestingly, I got a new worn Casinos for < $500 last year, and every single thing about this guitar is better than the IBJL I used to have.

£1200 for a Squier Affinity Series Starcaster is definitely totally normal.

That will never sell for that price barring Turkey levels of inflation

A lot of emphasis on custom shop FENDER squier starcaster.
Also, who thought that a taxi themed guitar would look good?

And it’s in the U.K.?
I love the upgraded DUNCAN DESIGNED humbuckers. And a free hard case! Such generous.

Re: do we think prices will come back down to some semblance of reality?
Do people buy shit like this? Like those carved up Squiers we’ve seen posted, like “ONE OF A KIND” and like someone mentioned a lot of emphasis on ‘CUSTOM SHOP’ just vague enough to go either way on it being the Fender Custom Shop or the Gary’s Bag Of Big Fat Stinky Dicks Custom Shop… like that thing is fucking hideous and even if it were a Fender Custom Shop instrument I can’t imagine a whole lot of demand. That guitar, conceptually, needs to be destroyed as soon as possibleStephen_42 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 04, 2022 6:48 amhttps://reverb.com/uk/item/48667240-tpp ... n-designed

Re: do we think prices will come back down to some semblance of reality?
I think and hope this boom is not sustainable. I have finally started seeing big amps for sale again from the 60s that had not been on Reverb for over a year. I think pandemic player people are starting to have buyers regret or something.
