NGD: Squier Classic Vibe '70s Jag Ltd. Edition...

Post by Surfysonic » Fri May 14, 2021 4:24 pm

Last NGD for a while, I promise.

Squier Classic Vibe '70s Jaguar Limited Edition (daphne blue) used on Reverb. Well set up by previous owner, but I still changed out the 9s or 10s strings for D'Addario 11s. Pleasantly surpised and happy with the neck, very comfortable. Also, for once, I won't have to swap out the stock pickups - these are really nice. Only thing to swap out is the pickguard - awaiting something a little different for pickguard color to arrive in a week or so (I'll follow up).

While I've been very happy with my other Squier guitars, I don't think I've been this excited about a Squier since getting the Squier J Mascis Jazzmaster when they were first released - I'll always consider it a sleeper guitar, really exceptional. While quite modified, it's one of the guitars I've held onto and plan to continue to do so for a long time.

To me, the Squier CV '70s Jaguar is another sleeper hit of a guitar once properly set up. :)

My anodized gold pickguard from Eyparts arrived today - I'll have to make some minor filing adjustments near the lower bout control plate and the left bridge post (low E-side) but for now, it fits alright.

Awesome! This is the one for the USA jag on their website? I might grab it for the purple Jag!

Oh my god why won’t they just put matching headstocks on the 70s ones they’d be like as close to perfect as they’d get

Hopefully they make these FSR things an annual thing, like do the burst and whatever other couple finishes to exist always but retire and replace with new finishes.

An LPB 70s with those appointments would be incredible

That would be schweet! I've got a rattle can of Gracey's Vintage Finishes' Daphne Blue so I'm tempted to do the headstock. It may not match perfectly with the body's factory finish but should be close enough. I'd end up losing the '70s style Squier Jaguar logo (to be replaced by a '60s style Fender Jaguar logo) but I actually prefer the '60s style any way.

I keep wondering why MIJ Jaguars usually look nicer, and I think it's the matching headstock... offsets are meant to be as colorful as possible!

Yeah I kinda hate the American originals I kinda get it if a normal pre-cbs looking thing has a plain headstock but the second it gets binding it’s like not having it throws the whole thing off.

Seeing the pink one leads to the realization that you can get pretty much whatever you want - like there’s no Classic vibe 60s Jaguar other than that one so for damn sure somebody could order a batch of what I’m talking about
