That greenish IBM is just phenomenal. Great score! Congrats!

It looks exactly like the first jazzmaster I saw in person, an AVRI in the same color that was gathering dust for all of my high school years in the local shop, and badly setup as to be unplayable, it looked really cool but gave me a bad impression of JMs before I could buy mine!

I've long had a soft spot for the OTM JM, but this really looks like Jazzmaster perfection to me. I'm going to order some rattle cans and refinish mine ASAP, maybe one of each.

Very cool guitar, and one of my favourite colours...when these first came out back in the day a friend of mine bought an IBM JM just like it.
It was such a cool guitar! He doesn't have it anymore, unfortunately, but I remember it sounded great...to add to it, at pretty much the same time another friend got a Sherwood Green '62 AVRI JM ...also an incredible guitar...it was such a cool time as for the first time since the vintage days you could get a US made Jazzmaster or Jaguar...and with killer colours.
Good times.

So, tonight after work I set to fixing this up a bit.
Turns out it's not a 2001, it's actually 2003. Neck date and pot dates match up. No biggie.
Absolutely bone-stock inside, looks to be unmolested
You can see the extent of the aging of the clearcoat here
The vibrato collet decided to literally shatter when presented with it's sole purpose in life. This will need to be replaced at some point now but it still holds the arm in pretty well regardless.
Fretboard didnt look like it had been looked after too well so I gave the frets a light polish and fed the rosewood a few coats of lemon oil
I had a parchment and tort guard available for it. The parchment was too stark (and not the best cut to be honest). So went with the OSG classic of tort-on-everything. This one wasn't cut quite right at the neck pocket but a few minutes with a razor and it fit great.
I also replaced the straplocks with OG Fender buttons, cleaned and lubed all the electronics and tuners, and slapped on the Mustang bridge. First neck I've needed to shim for a while too - i just used my standard 1mm plectrum under the heel technique hahaha
I think it came out rather pretty

I've only seen one of these in person. It's got to be one of the more rare Fender colors. Looks great with the tort!
