Tell me about the Squier Venus
May be trying one of these soon... in black with matching headstock. Not cheap (approx £700- is that a silly price?).
However, I've always wanted a hardtail Strat with hotter pickups, and have no need for a middle pickup. Could this fit the bill? I'd probably replace all the electronics and have the pickups rewound to t-top bridge and '69 custom shop neck specs...
I know the adjustomatic 12" bridge is mismatched to the 9.5" radius, but this can be solves with some files by a tech.
What we saying? Are they good guitars, or is it just the rarity factor driving them up? £700 seems silly for a Squier, but not for a rare CIJ Fender...

Re: Tell me about the Squier Venus
I've got two Venuses (?): a green Venus and a black Venus XII. Personally I think they're great guitars. £700 does seem a lot but they don't come up for sale in the UK very often and, like you say, that isn't crazy money for a Japanese Fender, which is essentially what they are.
Re the six string, I love the sound of the neck pick up but find the stock bridge HB pretty meh tbh. Sounds like you're intending to swap the pick ups out anyway so that won't be an issue. The lack of a tone control could be limiting for some people. Are you intending to add one when you redo the electronics?
Neck is chunkier than my ideal but I tend to like pretty thin necks.

I know. Kicking myself for not getting one of the black ones when I had the chance.ShatoonBringerOfCorn wrote: ↑Tue Mar 30, 2021 3:47 amcries in baritone Jazzmaster£700 seems silly for a Squier

Re: Tell me about the Squier Venus
I've had 2 Venii, (both XIIs) and they are great guitars- nice and solid.
They are a bit on the pricy side, ($1000ish for the XII is average) but they have a solid build and a cool look. (See also- the "Mercury Guitars, Anyone?" thread for the whole messed up story of the design on these- it's a bit of a tear-jerker)
If it fits the bill, pick one up! Everyone seems to love them.

Re: Tell me about the Squier Venus
I'm still sad that I sold my green Venus in 2001. But I had just bought a MIM Classic 50s Telecaster, and I wasn't making a lot of money back then, so I sold the Venus.
It took me a while to get used to those tall frets on the Venus! I was an aggressive a player at the time. But the neck felt great, and the pickups were pretty good too.
I've thought about buying a black model, because I love black guitars. The prices are going up, so I should probably bite the bullet and do it as soon as I have the cash.

Re: Tell me about the Squier Venus
I had mine for a few months but sadly other gear got the best of me and it went out.
Regret it now, but oh well!

Also could just put a proper TOM bridge on it. They’re cheap and plentiful.

This place has a lot to say about the history of the Venus: https://offsetguitars.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=50431

Re: Tell me about the Squier Venus
I didn’t realize this thread was from the beginning of the year haha but I can only imagine. The Super Sonic was overnight like 500% more in price one day so it wouldn’t surprise me at all to see the Venus, clearly the most unique one of the Vista line, skyrocket as well. It was the most premium option, too. Binding, headstock and stuff.

Re: Tell me about the Squier Venus
I bought my “green” venus XII during the beginning of the pandemic for about 700-800 dollars (and then traded it for a nice MIJ jazzmaster). Quality was top-notch and felt nice, but the neck width was a bit small for me as 12 string. (Would love a six string someday).
I look everyone once in a while and I see people trying to sell a venus XII for 2k+
Pretty wild.

Re: Tell me about the Squier Venus
I sold it for basically what I paid. £750. Wish I hadn't but ya know... can't keep everything eh.
