(NDIB?) New Drunken Impulse Buy.
After searching and getting annoyed with the price of used AVRI '62 Jazzmasters, I had couple of beers and pulled the trigger on this baby! I loved the transparent ash body mixed with the gold guard. I really like a guitar with a thinner neck, vintage radius, and vintage frets. This guy ticked all those boxes! The neck is definitely very pale and some people might not like that, but it fits my hand like a glove.
The electronics are actually really good for a Japanese guitar. All I have to compare is an early 2000s Jag, but I've heard a lot of negative about Japanese electronics. I'm still probably going to swap out the pickups with something like Lollar Black Bobbins or Antiquities, but the stock pickups are actually not that bright at all. Which might have something to do with the following...
The only gripes I have with the guitar is that the bridge is pretty freaking high... I'm going to guess that they angle the neck pocket on these guitars like the new American models and it's a bit much. I've got a mastery waiting to be put on and I'm a bit worried about how this is going to work out. It might actually need a reverse shim. The other thing is the trem. This boy is tight! Once you put the bar in, it won't move from where you put it, but it's also very close to the pick guard for my taste. There's not a lot of room for downward movement.
That being said, I think I'm in love! Just need to decide on a set of pickups of it and probably a trem now, but boy she's pretty. Here's some pics, look at the grain!

FFS everyone on OSG is buying this model now and it’s just glorious! It’s giving me major gas. Congrats! It looks amazing! (but please don’t refer to a guitar as “she”, this is not TGP :p)
Keep us updated with the upgrades. I have a Jag with a Japanese neck and it’s the best neck I have played. Definitely prefer it to the AV65 and Marr necks that I have owned.

Is this a current Fender model? This is one my favorite looks for the Jazzmaster.

It's a Heritage '60s from Japan. It's a newer Japanese model.

Wow! Absolutely love everything about this.
Pale necks are my favorite. Anything that is yellow or orangeish looking is out for me. Pale looks so classy!
Congrats on a successful drunk buy!

Congrats. The recent Japanese offsets have been amazing. This and the sherwood green "hybrid" JM and Jag are the types of models I wish I had access to as a young offset fan.

For real! I just wish the "hybrid" JMs and Jags didn't have tall frets and 9 1/2" radius. I've been wanting a sherwood offset for some time. What's crazy is how light weight this ash body is on the heritage. I've picked up a bunch of American teles and strats that were much heavier.

Ebay, but I didn't pay the crazy $1,800 some of these sellers are asking.

Oh, really? That's fantastic. I recently discovered the joys of lightweight guitars, after a bad back spasm that took months to recover from. I couldn't play my heavier instruments standing up for quite a while.TvontheRadiohead wrote: ↑Sat Mar 13, 2021 3:04 pmFor real! I still own and love lots of heavy instruments, but when I buy a guitar or bass and it turns out to be lightweight, it's like a wonderful little bonus. It's rare for JMs or Jags to be all that lightweight. Sounds like you've got a keeper!

The really amber/orange coloured necks look terrible to me.

Nice guitar man.
On the trem arm, try tightening the spring tension screw, that’ll bring the bar away from the guard man.
