DAMMIT Squier not another NGD!!! (Tornado)

Dammit 5th year in a row that Squier makes me buy a brand new guitar!
But with Thomann blowing these out for €249 incl. shipping I couldn't say no.
And oh boy I'm REALLY blown away by its quality!

Needs decent strings and a good set-up, but whoa, i see or feel why this one wouldn't be able to hold up against the original - i also own a late 90s one.

:-*

Stay tuned for more.

same here. i wasn't interested in the Toronado at all (got a pink Cyclone last year) but at this price i couldn't withstand.
i'm curious if hey are going to blow the other Paranormals too. but maybe the black one just didn't sell that well.

They're blowing out Toronados? That's crazy. What a great guitar and what a great price. I don't blame you for jumping on it.

Did you mean to say that you don't see or feel why it wouldn't hold up? It sounds like you're really pleased with it so I assume that's what you meant. Either way, super interested to hear how you feel it compares to the MIM 90's one once you get to know it better.

the second i seen these and the cyclones were on clearance, i bought one of each. sadly scotland is a wee bit further away so postage might take a wee bit..... they're also using UPS which kinda bothers me

UPS is your best bet, on this side of the pond at least.

You bought from Thomann, aye? I've not ordered anything since Brexit, so I'm not sure what happens with added tax.

I just picked up one of these as well after seeing the price. The Toronado never really appealed to me to me despite it being in many ways exactly something I was looking for, basically a Gibsonised Fender. I always thought it was a bit ugly, possibly something to do with the huge pick guard. Nevertheless at this price I couldn't resist. I still don't think it's the best-looking guitar but I much prefer it IRL compared to pictures, particularly the all-black look. It is indeed incredible at this price. The neck is really lovely, the edges of the fretboard feel great. On the basis of this and a couple of the Classic Vibes I have, I think I actually prefer Indian laurel to rosewood. The only thing I don't really like is how pasty and pale the neck is – I would have preferred the vintage tint used on the classic vibes, but whatever. Will be looking out to see if the Cyclones and Super-Sonics go down in price as well

Oh, and with regards to Brexit and UK delivery – you just pay the VAT separately to UPS, along with a handling fee which was about £11. Otherwise no change from before from my perspective.

that's a cool sight. i think the Paranormal series generated a lot more excitement around here than anything has in a while, but the Cyclone has been kind of over overlooked in the rush. looking forward to a report 8)
