Really? Shit, nobody told me- I've been playing my Jazzmasters and Jaguars with stock bridges for years with no problems.

Neither have I since I bought a new Jazzmaster in early 1965. Never have had an issue with the stock vintage bridges, even on the VM Jazzmaster and Jag I bought back in 2012.
