I mean, I wouldn't wanna pay $2000 for a JM but considering I play a lot of different genres like metal, shoegaze, noise rock, blues, punk and many others on my JM, I would love to divebomb on my offset. Different strokes, I guess.bessieboporbach wrote: ↑Thu Feb 10, 2022 5:09 amI must say I'm baffled that in 2021 Fender thought "a $2000 Jazzmaster that you can divebomb" was something anybody wanted. I mean, a Kahler is more or less that (do they fit in the same route?) and it was invented 40 years ago and nobody likes them.

Re: Fender "Panorama" Tremolo System -- American Performer II Jazzmaster
Kind of a moot point whether folk want to dive bomb or not man. Generally, going by what I’ve looked at, it looks like it has some good new features even out with the more range thing, the pivot plate and sunken surface screws being good remedies to issues some folk have with their trem. Either way, it should work stock without the need for changing out such a fundamental part of a trem - the spring, if you want to use heavier gauge strings than 10s man.
Personally I don’t want more range on mine, but if folk do I understand that.

I want to divebomb on my JM and jag. With the 13 - 56 rounds I can’t even get two frets worth of detuning. That’s with the arm bent out extra, and the tip touching the PG.bessieboporbach wrote: ↑Thu Feb 10, 2022 5:09 amI must say I'm baffled that in 2021 Fender thought "a $2000 Jazzmaster that you can divebomb" was something anybody wanted. I want more. Dammit.

I'm sure someone who got posted got you covered in the "Why did you do it? Why did you do this thing to me?" Thread..bessieboporbach wrote: ↑Thu Feb 10, 2022 5:09 amI mean, a Kahler is more or less that (do they fit in the same route?) and it was invented 40 years ago and nobody likes them.
I guess it would be more popular but it's a 1.800€ Guitar, releasing by covid most people had other money priorities when it came out in the shortened work/lockdowns (if they even where anywhere in stock), the unit itself is only thru one dealer availiable( sold out) and that only since two month or so? Importing one would put me in the same price range as a new Mastery. If the Unit where easier availiable (and without relying on 9-42) I sure would it choose over an Avri or Mastery and probably others would do the same. More range on a wiggle stick? HELL YEAH! (Coming from a locking trem guy)
I saw since then only 1x a used JM but a few Tele and Strats so either nobody buyed them in the first place or people who have one seem to be very pleased.

Re: Fender "Panorama" Tremolo System -- American Performer II Jazzmaster
I stand corrected, then -- I am getting the message loud and clear that I don't know what people are using their Jazzmasters for these days. When I look at a JM I think "Walk Don't Run," "Marquee Moon," and maybe "Only Shallow" and even actual jazz but I certainly don't think of Kerry King or EVH.
But I guess others do!
I should say I'm not closed-minded about dive-bombing; my current everyday player is a Charvel with a Floyd on it. But I must admit, I still string it with 11 gauge flats and play "Walk Don't Run" and "Marquee Moon" on it.

Hey man, no worries! The other day I was playing Metallica, Modest Mouse and Dino Jr on my JM and today I was playing some Slowdive, Unwound and Ventures. I just like to play a lot of different kinds of music, and since I cannot really justify getting another guitar it would be nice for my JM to be as versatile as possible.bessieboporbach wrote: ↑Thu Feb 10, 2022 7:03 pmI stand corrected, then -- I am getting the message loud and clear that I don't know what people are using their Jazzmasters for these days. On that, check out a cat called Michael Lemmo. JM diehard but clearly heavily influenced by Eddie. Great player.

Not to mention that Verlaine played most of his parts on Marquee Moon on a Danelectro…

True. Title track was a Dano, "See No Evil" and several other tracks were a Gretsch, it's a Jag on a couple of tracks & I think only "Friction" was the Jazzmaster he is usually associated with.adamrobertt wrote: ↑Sun Feb 13, 2022 4:41 pmNot to mention that Verlaine played most of his parts on Marquee Moon on a Danelectro…

Is it possible to put some sort of secondary spring inside the main spring to help up its overall compression stiffness? This might be easier than making a new spring.

Now that you mention it, maybe if there’s enough clearance inside the main spring, gun manufacturers do this with pistols a lot where a secondary, narrower spring rides inside of the main spring inside the slide assembly for closing the slide after a round is fired.drunkengarbagecan wrote: ↑Sun Feb 13, 2022 11:03 pmIs it possible to put some sort of secondary spring inside the main spring to help up its overall compression stiffness? I tell you what...if my new AmPro ii comes with a stronger spring and I have to use higher gauge strings, I will gladly swap it with your lighter one. Unless of course I like the heavier strings it might come with. .
I just hope I can play guitars in my next life! Maybe then there will be time to actually get good!

Deal! I have some coming in today to try out. The one I got from the hardware store was a bust. I’ve got a friend that will let me try his mascis spring too.

OK, the guitar is supposed to ship this coming Friday, but since ship date has been delayed several times already, I will believe it when I have it in my hands.
