2008 thin skin colors confirmed
Just got off the phone with one of the thin skin dealers and he received an email yesterday with the low down from Fender:
[drum roll]
Fender is making 50 each of the following colors:
LPB, Shell Pink, Fiesta Red, Burgundy Mist, Aztek Gold (all with mathcing head stocks)
plus 50 each of ashbodied blondes and 3 color SB, both with anodized guards.
Scheduled delivery: June for Aztek Gold, Aug for Shell Pink & July for the rest.
Necks w modern radiuses and fatter frets.
That's it folks. BTW leave one for me in the frenzy, okay? (undecided on color)

fucking good colors, that is amazing. I was just thinking of refinishing my jazzmaster shell pink, haha. That LPB also sounds niceNord wrote: Just got off the phone with one of the thin skin dealers and he received an email yesterday with the low down from Fender:

I'll pass. $1500.00 plus is not something I would pay for Fender quality nowadays. I'd rather save the money and buy a vintage Jazzmaster, but that's just me.
Good Deals: Casbah, Dren68

Meh, I'm not too excited about them anymore. Aztec Gold will probably be pretty nice, but I only would have been interested if they had made a Sherwood Green one. I guess a refin for my AVRI may be in order.
Edit: Actually, if the burst looks like a proper vintage one I might still be interested. Fender still sucks for not offering blocks and binding, though.

Sure, but those who can't or won't buy vintage can now get cool colors for just a few more $ than a regular AVRI. It's not for everyone, which is why Fender makes this run of 350 quasi custom shop guitars for way less than their regular custom shop price (which by the way seems way, WAY over priced IMO)jbuckner wrote: I'll pass. $1500.00 plus is not something I would pay for Fender quality nowadays. The modern neck radius is a bit of a bummer, especially on the gold guards.

+1. I'll take an AVRI over a thin skin anyday, for the neck radius alone.

Crap. Now I have to decide between a BMM Jag and a blonde/ash Jazzy.
Crap. Now I have to decide between eating for the next couple of months or not.

Haha @ the not eating.
I was planning to live off of only ramen noodles all summer if they came out with a Sherwood Green thinskin JM. I guess now I don't have to suffer for several months.

7 colors instead of last year's run of 4? Things are looking up in offset land.
Bigger in sum than parts.
