I'd love to see Aaron and Bryce Dessner get a signature Jaguar and Jazzmaster each. Those guys are two of the best alternative musicians around currently. Glad to see Ben Gibbard getting a signature model too.

Got mine a couple days ago. Overall reviews:

-$1100 seems like a lot for this, but I've listened to Gibbard for at least 20 years of my life at this point so...take my money.
-It's pretty fun to play, though. Came nicely set up out of the box.
-Sounds like ben. I like the no-frills approach
-The neck is a literal louisville slugger.
-Not sure what the story is with the 3-piece body; is that done for the 'chambering' or did I just get a body made out of smaller cuts they had laying around?
-In classic Mexican Fender style, the pots go from 0-100 when they are turned from '1' to '2'. This has always driven me a bit nuts

That's a fine-looking guitar.

I'm still flummoxed by the non-trem trem.

It does look great. Even the the non-trem trem. I like the look of the grain on the back of yours.

How much does yours weigh? I'm wondering about the chambering and impact on weight.

Great interview with Ben about the song 'Black Sun' and the origins of his modified 70s Mustangs (and his new sig model)

Pretty great content from Fender, honestly - wish they did this for all the signature models!

The ones I’d like to see would be a Kevin Shields Jazzmaster and Belinda Butcher Mustang, probably like most of us.

Reissues of the Sonic Youth Jazzmasters. Seems dumb as hell that Troy Van Leeuwen not only still has his guitar being manufactured, but they gave him a second colorway, and somehow the SY guitars were discontinued after what, like a year?

Tom Verlaine would be cool/different

Richard Lloyd and I have been pestering Fender to make a sig model of his Strat, but to no avail.

I was so excited for this and had just about gotten myself to the point of paying £700 for a Mexican Mustang, but even with my status as a pitiful Death Cab apologist I can't pay a grand for it. I wonder how many they're making...

For a second I thought I was reading that this guitar had a blend knob on there, but instead I see that the guitar has a pull three way selector switch instead.

So it's brown, then, is that the deal? And some kind of hardtail? I don't know if I see what's good about this guitar at all, really.

it's not a Gibson? that's a start.

i don't know, the buyer above seems to dig his. I'm not sure we can hold the price point against it, since it's in line with Fender's much-discussed current round of inflation. it looks killer, and if it's anything like the hardtail shortboard Mustang i just got, it's a blast to play. what else do you want? I hope to hear more from owners. 8)

I guess my appreciation for Gibson disqualifies me from another thread on here, so I'll just fuck off from this one also, then.
